Progress on Purified Spherical Graphite Facility
Renascor Resources Limited has reported substantial advancement in the construction of its Purified Spherical Graphite (PSG) demonstration facility in Adelaide, South Australia. This project, co-funded by a $5 million Australian Government grant, aims to convert graphite concentrate from the Siviour Graphite Deposit into high-value battery anode material through an eco-friendly, hydrofluoric acid-free purification process.
During the December quarter, Renascor completed installation of all major purification circuit equipment, including the kiln and tanks, and has moved into staged commissioning of utilities and infrastructure. Process piping is largely installed, with remaining tie-ins and electrical works progressing on schedule. Factory acceptance testing of the control system is underway, alongside hydrotesting of piping systems, all contributing to a smooth transition towards full commissioning.
Upstream Mining Optimisation and Site Preparations
Following early contractor involvement, Renascor has advanced several optimisation workstreams to de-risk the upstream mining operation. These include groundwater investigations with drilling and pump testing completed, geotechnical drilling to refine mine design, tailings testwork to simplify infrastructure, and accommodation facility planning to support operational readiness. Power supply design updates and site enabling works are also progressing, aligning infrastructure with processing needs.
Exploration Activities and Rare Earth Element Insights
Exploration efforts continued with a 13-hole reverse circulation drill program at the Bulloo Creek prospect targeting copper-cobalt-gold mineralisation along a 4km magnetic trend. Assay results are pending, but initial geological indicators suggest promising potential. At the Tumby Bay prospect, re-assaying of historical drillholes confirmed significant enrichment of magnetic rare earth elements such as neodymium, praseodymium, terbium, and dysprosium, critical for permanent magnet manufacturing. Soil sampling has identified extensive rare earth anomalies, and satellite hyperspectral analysis has highlighted additional targets for follow-up work.
Community Engagement and Corporate Developments
Renascor has initiated land access negotiations and community engagement with Native Title claimants at the Marree Project, which hosts uranium and copper prospects including the drill-ready Mulgaria anomaly. On the corporate front, the company held its Annual General Meeting in November 2025, approved all resolutions, and issued performance rights to management as part of incentive arrangements. The company’s cash position remains strong at approximately A$97 million as of 31 December 2025, underpinning ongoing development and exploration activities.
Renascor’s integrated Battery Anode Material project, anchored by the world’s second-largest proven graphite reserve at Siviour, continues to advance steadily with a clear focus on sustainable, secure supply chains for battery materials outside of China.
Bottom Line?
With commissioning underway and exploration promising, Renascor is poised for critical next steps in scaling its battery materials ambitions.
Questions in the middle?
- When will assay results from Bulloo Creek drilling be released, and what impact might they have on resource estimates?
- How will the eco-friendly PSG purification process perform at commercial scale compared to traditional methods?
- What progress will be made on Native Title negotiations and heritage clearances at the Marree Project in the coming months?
