Context and Significance

Renegade Exploration Limited (ASX, RNX) has updated its January announcement with comprehensive soil sample data and a JORC-compliant Table 1, confirming the presence of a new gold-silver-antimony mineralised system at its Yukon Project’s Junction prospect in Canada. This discovery is significant as it aligns with the characteristics of major Reduced Intrusive-Related Gold System (RIRGS) deposits within the prolific Tintina Gold Province, a region renowned for substantial gold resources.

Geochemical Highlights and Location

The historical soil sampling conducted in 2014-2015 delineated a gold-bismuth-tungsten zone extending over 4 kilometres and a silver-zinc-antimony zone exceeding 6 kilometres in length. Notably, silver grades in soils reached up to 11.25 grams per tonne, underscoring the prospect’s mineral potential. Junction lies strategically 100 kilometres southwest of Snowline Gold Corp’s 7.9 million ounce Rogue Project and 160 kilometres southeast of Banyan Gold’s AurMac Project, both significant RIRGS deposits. It is also situated just 25 kilometres west of Renegade’s Myschka prospect, which has recently emerged as a drill-ready target following high-grade silver and gold findings.

Geological Setting and Exploration Model

The Junction prospect is underlain primarily by Neoproterozoic to Lower Palaeozoic sedimentary rocks of the Selwyn Basin, intersected by faults of Jurassic to Early Cretaceous age. Central to the mineralisation is a mid-Cretaceous intrusive body from the Tombstone plutonic suite, surrounded by a pyrrhotite-rich thermal aureole; a hallmark of RIRGS deposits in the region. The geochemical zoning observed, including gold-bismuth-tungsten and silver-zinc-antimony associations, supports a robust RIRGS exploration model.

Next Steps in Exploration

Renegade is advancing plans for further infill soil sampling to better define the gold zone’s southern and eastern extents, which remain open. Complementary field mapping, rock chip sampling, and heli-magnetic surveys are also slated to refine drill targets swiftly. This methodical approach aims to build on the promising data and expedite the transition from exploration to drilling, following the successful preparation of the Myschka prospect.
