Exploration Momentum Builds at Rochefort

Premier1 Lithium Limited (ASX:PLC) has taken a significant step forward in its gold exploration efforts by commencing a high-resolution ground gravity survey at the Rochefort Prospect, part of its Abbotts North Gold Project in Western Australia’s prolific Murchison region. This survey aims to provide a detailed understanding of the structural and lithological controls on mineralisation, enabling the company to prioritise drill targets with greater confidence and precision.

Rochefort stands out as a highly prospective target, situated just 20 kilometres north of the Crown Prince deposit, a producing gold resource with a reported 2.2 million tonnes at 3.9 grams per tonne gold for 279,000 ounces. The proximity to such a deposit within the same greenstone belt underscores Rochefort’s potential to host a significant gold system.

Compelling Geological Signatures

The Rochefort Prospect features a coherent gold-in-soil anomaly measuring approximately 400 by 350 metres, with high-grade rock chip assays reaching up to 11.7 grams per tonne gold. Soil samples have returned peak values of 30 parts per billion gold, significantly above background levels, suggesting a robust mineralised footprint. The mineralisation is hosted within highly altered quartz dolerites, a lithology known to be favourable for gold deposits in the Yilgarn Craton.

Exploration Manager Paul Smith highlighted the importance of the gravity survey in refining the structural framework that controls mineralisation. By mapping key lithological contacts and structural corridors, the survey will accelerate the identification of high-impact drill targets. This approach is critical given the limited historical exploration in the area, which has seen only sparse drilling and surface sampling to date.

Strategic Positioning in a Proven Gold District

The Abbotts North Project benefits from excellent infrastructure and access, located 35 kilometres north of Meekatharra along well-maintained roads. The project lies within the northern part of the Abbotts Greenstone Belt, a structurally complex and gold-endowed region that has historically produced high-grade gold from shallow deposits. Despite this, modern exploration within Premier1’s tenure has been minimal, presenting a compelling opportunity for discovery.

Premier1’s strategy leverages advanced geophysical techniques, including the recently completed Ultrafines™ orientation survey, which is expected to deliver assay results imminently. These results will complement the gravity data and inform the design of a maiden drilling program aimed at testing the most promising targets identified.
