Exceptional Assay Results Signal New Discoveries
Vital Metals Limited (ASX:VML) has released final assay results from its recent grab sampling program at the Nechalacho Rare Earths and Niobium Project in Canada’s Northwest Territories. The standout highlight is a grab sample from target 1029A, which returned an extraordinary 29.2% total rare earth oxides (TREO), equivalent to 292,145 parts per million. This is the highest grade recorded at Nechalacho to date, underscoring the project's rich mineral potential.
Notably, the sample contained 7.0% neodymium oxide (Nd₂O₃) and 1.7% praseodymium oxide (Pr₆O₁₁), with combined NdPr oxides making up nearly 30% of the TREO. These elements are particularly valuable within the light rare earth element group, critical for high-tech and green energy applications.
Expanding the District-Scale Opportunity
Beyond 1029A, the R Zone grab samples revealed the highest dysprosium (Dy₂O₃) grade recorded at the project, with 1.5% Dy₂O₃ and 1.0% gadolinium oxide (Gd₂O₃). Dysprosium is a key heavy rare earth element used in permanent magnets and other advanced technologies, making this discovery particularly significant.
The exploration program has identified six new targets outside the current resource boundaries, demonstrating the potential for a district-scale mineralised system rather than a single deposit. This broad footprint supports Vital Metals’ strategy to expand beyond the known Tardiff and North T deposits.
Ongoing Drilling and Development Plans
Vital Metals has commenced a 1000-metre exploration drilling program targeting the R Zone, S Zone, and Cressy Ridge areas, with completion expected by mid-April 2026. This drilling aims to test the newly identified targets and better define mineralisation continuity.
Simultaneously, the company is progressing a Pre-Feasibility Study (PFS) on the Tardiff deposit, with an updated Mineral Resource Estimate (MRE) planned to feed into the study. The PFS is targeted for completion by February 2027 and is expected to refine the project’s economic outlook, which currently includes a scoping study post-tax net present value of US$445 million.
Additionally, Vital Metals is preparing to process stockpiles at the North T demonstration project to generate early cash flow, aligning with its three-pronged approach of exploration, feasibility advancement, and near-term production.

Located approximately 100 kilometres southeast of Yellowknife, the Nechalacho project is positioned to become a significant source of responsibly sourced critical minerals for North America’s green economy transformation.
