Technology By Sophie Babbage 2 min read

icetana AI has landed a significant $2.1 million contract renewal and expansion with its largest customer, Middle East retail giant Majid al Futtaim Properties, reinforcing its foothold in large-scale security AI.

  • Renewal order worth US$1.488 million (~A$2.1 million) over 36 months
  • 53% increase in annual recurring revenue from key customer
  • Expansion covers additional camera licences for 16 shopping malls
  • Contract billed as software-as-a-service (SaaS)
  • Strengthens icetana AI’s position in Middle East retail security

Renewal Signals Confidence in AI Security Software

Perth-based icetana AI has secured a substantial contract renewal and expansion with Majid al Futtaim Properties (MAF), a dominant player in Middle Eastern retail property management. The deal, valued at approximately US$1.488 million (around A$2.1 million), will be billed as a software-as-a-service (SaaS) subscription over three years starting March 6, 2026.

This renewal not only extends the partnership that has been in place since 2016 but also marks a 53% increase in the annual recurring revenue (ARR) from MAF, adding roughly US$146,000 (A$209,000) annually. The expansion reflects growing demand for icetana’s self-learning AI technology, which automates surveillance across 16 shopping malls, enhancing security while reducing reliance on human guards.

Technology Tailored for Large-Scale Surveillance

icetana AI’s software is designed to continuously learn and adapt to each camera’s environment, autonomously detecting unusual or potentially dangerous events in real time. This capability is particularly valuable in complex, multi-site retail environments where manual monitoring is inefficient and costly.

CEO Kevin Brown highlighted the significance of the renewal, stating it validates the company’s technology and underscores its growing relevance in global security operations. The increased camera licence footprint with MAF further cements icetana’s reputation in the large shopping mall segment, a key focus area for its go-to-market strategy.

Contract Terms and Future Outlook

The contract requires annual payments in advance, with the initial payment due within 30 days of invoicing. While the current agreement covers three years, future revenues beyond this period depend on customer renewal, introducing some uncertainty about long-term revenue sustainability.

icetana AI’s technology is already deployed across more than 70 sites and 17,000 cameras in over 15 countries, indicating a solid global footprint. This renewal with a marquee customer like MAF not only boosts recurring revenue but also serves as a strong endorsement of the company’s scalable AI security solutions.

Bottom Line?

This renewal strengthens icetana AI’s foothold in retail security but leaves open questions about sustaining growth beyond the current contract term.

Questions in the middle?

  • Will Majid al Futtaim Properties extend the contract beyond the initial three years?
  • How will icetana AI leverage this renewal to attract new large-scale retail customers?
  • What impact will this expanded contract have on icetana’s overall ARR and profitability?
