Drilling Resumes at Jura Following Promising High-Grade Intercepts

Somerset Minerals Ltd has kicked off a substantial diamond drilling program at its Jura prospect, part of the flagship Coppermine copper project in Nunavut, Canada. This campaign follows encouraging results from previous drilling, including a standout intercept of 42.7 metres at 2.69% copper starting from just 15.24 metres depth, with a higher-grade section of 16.8 metres at 3.96% copper. The current program aims to extend mineralisation both down dip and along strike, while also testing parallel structures identified through recent geophysical surveys.

Dual Exploration Tracks: Advancing Talisker and Jura

While drilling progresses at Jura, Somerset is simultaneously advancing exploration at the Talisker anomaly, a significant 17-kilometre geochemical and geophysical feature within the Coppermine Project. Soil sampling is underway to refine drill targets, with maiden drilling planned for May 2026. This dual-track approach underscores the company’s strategy to unlock multiple copper discoveries across its extensive landholding, rather than focusing on a single target.

A Vast and Underexplored Copper Belt

The Coppermine Project spans 1,665 square kilometres in the Kitikmeot region, positioning Somerset as the largest landholder in this highly prospective copper belt. The region hosts over 110 historically mapped copper occurrences and more than 100 kilometres of continuous strike within the Copper Creek basalt formation. Despite its potential, exploration has been limited since the 1960s, leaving ample opportunity for new discoveries. Somerset’s tenure also neighbours White Cliff Minerals’ Danvers prospect, which has reported impressive intercepts such as 90 metres at 4.0% copper and 7.5 grams per tonne silver.

Strategic Targets Across Multiple Districts

Somerset’s exploration focus extends beyond Jura and Talisker to include several high-priority districts: Laphroaig, Ardbeg, Jura, and Oban. Each area shows promising signs of copper mineralisation, supported by historic drilling, rock chip samples, and geophysical data. Notably, the Jura district features a 7-kilometre mineralised trend with historical drill-defined resources and recent high-grade rock chips. The company’s strategy is to systematically test these targets to build a robust pipeline of copper assets.

Looking Ahead: Anticipating Near-Term News Flow

Somerset expects initial results from the Jura drilling campaign within the next 4 to 6 weeks, which will be closely watched by investors eager for confirmation of resource growth. Meanwhile, the Talisker soil sampling and planned drilling campaign promise further catalysts through 2026.
