Iceni Gold’s Strategic Move into Goose Well

Iceni Gold Limited (ASX:ICL) has taken a decisive step forward in its exploration efforts by initiating a maiden Reverse Circulation (RC) drilling program at the Goose Well target, part of its flagship 14 Mile Well Gold Project in Western Australia. This 23-hole, 2,600-metre campaign is designed to validate promising historic gold intercepts and to delineate the scale and continuity of mineralisation within the Goose Well Intrusive Complex (GWIC), a geological feature that has attracted significant attention due to its gold potential.

Building on a Strong Foundation of Data

The Goose Well target has been under Iceni’s radar for several years, supported by a robust foundation of exploration work including soil geochemistry, rock chip sampling, and resampling of historic drill spoils. Notably, rock chip assays have returned exceptional gold grades, with values reaching as high as 40.2 grams per tonne. These high-grade results, combined with broad gold-in-soil anomalies and aeromagnetic imagery highlighting a distinctive intrusive complex, underpin the compelling nature of this target.

Historic drilling programs, including those by Normandy Mining and smaller prospectors, have intersected gold mineralisation, but gaps in original assay data have necessitated a cautious approach. Iceni’s recent resampling efforts have confirmed significant gold intercepts, such as 21 metres at 0.68 g/t Au and 12 metres at 0.64 g/t Au, reinforcing the prospectivity of the area.

Drilling Program Details and Geological Context

The current drilling campaign focuses on two main target zones within Goose Well: the Main Target and the North Target. The Main Target will be tested with a 40m by 40m grid of angled holes designed to intersect mineralised quartz veins associated with the contact between basalt and felsic intrusive units. The North Target aims to explore a mineralised shear zone supported by aeromagnetic data and historic reports of shallow high-grade gold mineralisation.

Iceni’s Managing Director, Wade Johnson, emphasised the significance of the program, noting that the geological setting is analogous to other well-known syenite-associated gold systems in the district. The integration of geophysical data, structural interpretation, and geochemical anomalies positions Goose Well as a promising intrusion-related gold system, potentially adding substantial value to Iceni’s portfolio.

With all necessary approvals and access agreements in place, drilling commenced promptly in March 2026, with results expected in April. These assay outcomes will be critical in confirming the extent and grade of mineralisation and guiding subsequent exploration phases. Meanwhile, Iceni continues to refine its regional geological models and explore additional targets within its extensive 14 Mile Well tenement package, which covers over 700 square kilometres in a prolific gold district.
