Nelson Resources Limited (ASX:NES) has taken a significant step forward in its exploration campaign by commencing geophysical surveys at the Gold Point Project in Nevada, USA. The surveys, conducted by Zonge International Inc., employ Total Field Magnetometric Resistivity (TFMMR) and Controlled Source Audio-frequency Magnetotellurics (CSAMT) techniques to probe beneath surface cover and delineate the structural architecture of high-grade gold and silver veins.

The Gold Point Project is strategically positioned within the prolific Walker Lane District, a region boasting over 40 million ounces of gold endowment within a 90-kilometre radius. Notably, it lies just 70 kilometres from AngloGold Ashanti’s 16 million ounce Silicon Project, the largest greenfield gold discovery in the US over the past two decades.

Targeting High-Grade Historic Production

Nelson’s initial survey focus is on areas adjacent to historic mines that produced approximately 75,000 ounces of gold at exceptionally high grades of 20 to 30 grams per tonne. The geophysical program aims to define the lateral and strike extensions of known high-grade veins at the Orleans, Great Western, and Grand Central Mines. Previous rock chip assays from these sites have returned impressive results, including assays exceeding 30 grams per tonne gold and hundreds of grams per tonne silver.

By deploying transmitters underground within the Orleans Vein, the TFMMR survey can directly evaluate the vein’s projection beneath surface cover, a critical advantage in this complex geological setting. Complementing this, the CSAMT survey will cover multiple lines to test for extensions and parallel structures, including previously underexplored northeast-trending veins that have shown promising assay results.

Data Integration and Drilling Ahead

Results from these surveys will be integrated with ongoing surface and underground geological mapping to build a comprehensive three-dimensional model of the vein systems. This integrated approach is designed to sharpen drill targeting ahead of Nelson’s maiden drilling program scheduled for the second quarter of 2026. The company’s leadership emphasises the potential for these surveys to unlock significant value by revealing extensions of high-grade mineralisation that have remained hidden beneath cover.
