West Coast Silver Limited has launched a comprehensive geophysical survey campaign at its Elizabeth Hill silver project, aiming to uncover new high-grade mineralisation extensions and refine exploration targeting.
- 2026 geophysical surveys commence across Elizabeth Hill tenements
- Borehole and surface electromagnetic methods to detect silver mineralisation
- Contract awarded to Southern Geoscience Consultants for survey execution
- Elizabeth Hill remains open at depth and along strike for resource growth
- Geophysics to enhance drill targeting and exploration efficiency
Exploration Momentum Builds at Elizabeth Hill
West Coast Silver Limited (ASX:WCE) is advancing its exploration efforts with the start of a new geophysical survey program at the Elizabeth Hill silver project in Western Australia's Pilbara region. Scheduled to begin by the end of March 2026, the program aims to detect potential extensions of the high-grade silver mineralisation that has historically defined the site.
The Elizabeth Hill project is notable for its exceptional silver grades, having produced approximately 1.2 million ounces of silver from a relatively small volume of ore. Mining ceased in 2000 due to low silver prices, but the deposit remains open both at depth and along strike, presenting significant upside potential.
Innovative Geophysical Techniques in Focus
The 2026 campaign will deploy a suite of geophysical methods including Borehole Electromagnetic (BHEM), Borehole Magnetometric Resistivity (BHMMR), Ground Fixed Loop Electromagnetic (FLEM), and Induced Polarisation (IP) surveys. These techniques measure physical properties such as electrical conductivity and chargeability, which can indicate the presence of silver or associated sulphide minerals.
By utilising diamond drill holes completed in 2025, the borehole surveys will probe beneath and around historic mine workings to identify conductive bodies that may represent previously undetected mineralisation. Surface surveys will target northern extensions of known mineralisation to uncover new structures or mineralised zones.
Strategic Partnership and Exploration Outlook
West Coast Silver has engaged Southern Geoscience Consultants to conduct the geophysical surveys, building on successful collaborations and recent petrophysical studies that suggest these methods can effectively identify mineralised zones at Elizabeth Hill and potentially across the broader project area.
Executive Chairman Bruce Garlick emphasised the strategic value of integrating geophysics into the exploration workflow: "This program aims to extend the potential strike and depth extent of Elizabeth Hill mineralisation and structures controlling mineralisation distribution. Geophysics adds another layer of data that assists in more precise exploration drill targeting."
With a consolidated land package spanning 180 square kilometres and encompassing key fault systems considered prospective for silver deposits, West Coast Silver is positioning itself to unlock further discoveries that could enhance the project's resource base and economic prospects.
Bottom Line?
As geophysical data starts to flow, investors will watch closely for signs of new silver zones that could redefine Elizabeth Hill’s potential.
Questions in the middle?
- How soon will results from the 2026 geophysical surveys be available to guide drilling?
- What are the specific targets or anomalies identified for follow-up drilling based on these surveys?
- Could the geophysical techniques reveal base metals alongside silver, broadening the project's scope?
