Up to 15 RC Holes Target 1km High-Grade Gold Trend at Rockland

Mining By Maxwell Dee 3 min read

Dundas Minerals has launched a reverse circulation drilling campaign at its Rockland Gold Project near Kalgoorlie, aiming to extend a high-grade gold discovery along strike and at depth. The program also sets the stage for further exploration at nearby Baden-Powell.

  • RC drilling underway at Rockland Gold Project, ~40km north of Kalgoorlie
  • Up to 15 holes planned to test 1km mineralised trend extensions and depth
  • Previous drilling revealed multiple high-grade gold intercepts
  • Potential link to Aquarius prospect being investigated
  • Follow-up drilling planned at Baden-Powell Gold Resource with 23,000 oz Au

Exploration Momentum Builds at Rockland

Dundas Minerals Limited has initiated a reverse circulation (RC) drilling program at its Rockland Gold Project, situated approximately 40 kilometres north of the prolific Kalgoorlie gold mining district in Western Australia. This move follows promising results from initial drilling in early 2025, which confirmed a significant high-grade gold mineralisation trend extending roughly one kilometre along strike.

The current program aims to drill up to 15 holes totalling around 2,500 metres, targeting both strike extensions to the north and south of the known mineralised zone, as well as depth extensions beneath previously intercepted gold mineralisation. The Rockland project benefits from a granted mining lease (M24/974) and has not been subject to modern mining activities, offering a fresh opportunity for resource definition.

Encouraging Early Results and Strategic Targets

Earlier drilling at Rockland yielded several standout intercepts, including 6 metres at 3.3 grams per tonne gold from 78 metres depth, and narrower but higher-grade hits such as 1 metre at 14.9 grams per tonne from 80 metres. These results underscore the potential for a robust mineralised system with both oxide and fresh rock gold mineralisation.

Importantly, the mineralisation trend at Rockland is interpreted to extend northwards to the Aquarius prospect, where previous drilling returned 3 metres at 10.2 grams per tonne gold from 109 metres. The current drilling program will test the potential connection between these two zones, which could significantly enhance the overall resource footprint.

Broader Kalgoorlie Portfolio and Next Steps

Beyond Rockland, Dundas is preparing to advance infill and extensional drilling at the nearby Baden-Powell Gold Resource, which hosts an inferred resource of approximately 23,000 ounces of gold. This resource remains open along strike and at depth, presenting further upside potential. The company’s portfolio also includes the Capricorn project, collectively forming a cluster of relatively shallow, unmined gold deposits near key infrastructure.

Managing Director Jonathan Downes emphasised the significance of the Rockland discovery and the strategic value of the Kalgoorlie portfolio. He highlighted the favourable gold price environment and the company’s intent to rapidly demonstrate the economic potential of these assets through systematic drilling and resource growth.

Outlook and Market Implications

While assay results from the current drilling campaign are awaited, Dundas Minerals’ methodical approach to testing extensions and connections within a granted mining lease area positions it well to build on its early success. The combination of high-grade intercepts and proximity to established processing infrastructure could translate into a compelling development opportunity if further drilling confirms resource expansion.

Bottom Line?

Dundas Minerals’ ongoing drilling at Rockland could unlock significant new gold resources, setting the stage for a re-rating of its Kalgoorlie assets.

Questions in the middle?

  • Will the current drilling confirm extensions of high-grade gold beyond the initial 1km trend?
  • How soon might Dundas upgrade the inferred resource at Baden-Powell with new drilling data?
  • Could a connection between Rockland and Aquarius prospects materially increase the project’s scale?
