Lindian’s Tipume Camp Now Operational, Supporting 740 Workers Onsite

Operational Milestone at Kangankunde

Lindian Resources Limited (ASX:LIN) has announced that its Tipume Accommodation Camp at the Kangankunde Rare Earths Project in Malawi is now operational, marking a significant milestone in the project’s development. This infrastructure achievement comes ahead of schedule, with initial accommodation units already occupied, enabling a permanent workforce presence onsite.

The camp currently supports 38 permanent personnel, with a target capacity of 90 by mid-April 2026. This development is critical as it removes a key logistical bottleneck, allowing Lindian to ramp up construction activities across multiple fronts simultaneously. The operational camp is expected to accelerate the project’s construction timeline and support Lindian’s goal of commencing first production by the fourth quarter of 2026.

Safety and Workforce Expansion

Alongside this progress, Lindian has reported an impressive safety record, achieving over 500,000 lost-time injury-free hours at Kangankunde. Approximately 740 personnel are currently active onsite, reflecting the scale of operations underway. The company’s Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) contractor, Obsideo, has begun occupying the camp as process plant construction intensifies.

Allterrain Services Group (ATS), a well-established facility management provider operating across 25 African countries, has been appointed to manage the camp. ATS will deliver a comprehensive range of services including catering, maintenance, security, and energy optimisation, ensuring the camp supports the growing workforce effectively.

Strategic Implications for Kangankunde

The Tipume Camp forms a vital part of the non-process infrastructure required to develop Kangankunde. Along with the upcoming occupation of the Administration and Mining Office, these facilities lay the groundwork for sustained onsite operations and improved project coordination. This infrastructure foundation is a clear signal that Kangankunde is transitioning from development into full execution phase.

Executive Director Zac Komur highlighted the importance of the camp becoming operational ahead of schedule, stating it demonstrates strong execution discipline and delivery momentum. He emphasised that the permanent workforce presence will enable Lindian to maintain control over schedule and delivery, underpinning confidence in the pathway to first production.
