The Jasons target is particularly notable for its location immediately adjacent to Boss Energy’s Jason uranium resource, which boasts a recently revised inferred resource of 13.3 million pounds at an average grade of 410 parts per million U3O8.
Untapped Potential in a New Palaeochannel Extension
The Target 4 program leverages state gravity imagery to identify a northeast trending extension of the Yarramba Palaeovalley, a geological feature that has not been previously tested within Marmota’s tenement. This palaeochannel extension could stretch up to 3.7 kilometres and is interpreted to potentially host uranium mineralisation similar to that found in the adjacent Jason resource. Historical data from a 1972 drillhole on the edge of the target area recorded anomalous gamma radiation readings, suggesting the presence of uranium-bearing sediments, although this target remains largely unexplored.
Comprehensive Drilling Campaign and Technical Approach
The company plans an extensive drilling campaign comprising up to 400 holes across the four targets, with 39 holes specifically allocated to the Jasons area. The program is divided into two stages, each with a $2 million budget. Drilling will employ rotary mud rigs equipped with downhole geophysical probes to detect uranium mineralisation within the lower Eyre Formation sands, which are amenable to In-Situ Recovery mining methods. Each hole will be geophysically logged to determine lithology, stratigraphy, and mineralised intervals, enabling the calculation of equivalent uranium grades.
Legal Challenge to Tenement Addressed
In a separate development, Marmota disclosed a legal challenge filed by Raptor Uranium Pty Ltd against its Junction Dam tenement EL6530. The challenge alleges a failure to meet expenditure requirements during a prior period. Marmota clarified that the expenditure shortfall occurred before it held the tenement and was resolved through an agreed reduction in tenement size, preserving all prospective uranium areas. The company described the application as baseless and intends to seek dismissal with costs, reaffirming its secure tenure over the project area.
