Surefire Uncovers High-Grade Gold in New Yidby Albitite Zone

A New Chapter at Yidby

Surefire Resources NL (ASX:SRN) has announced a significant new gold discovery at its 100% owned Yidby Gold Project, located in the Mid-West region of Western Australia. Surface rock chip samples collected from a previously unexplored area known as the Loot Prospect have returned impressive gold grades, including assays of 12.04 g/t, 3.66 g/t, and 1.70 g/t Au. This new mineralisation occurs within a distinctive felsic Albitite lithology, a rock type not previously targeted in this part of the project.

The discovery is notable not only for the high-grade assays but also because it validates historical exploration data from the 1970s. Western Mining Corporation (WMC) had reported gold mineralisation in similar Albitite intrusives nearby, with assays up to 10.56 g/t Au. Surefire’s recent fieldwork has confirmed these results and extended the known mineralised corridor by approximately 2 kilometres, highlighting a fresh and highly prospective zone for further gold exploration.

Geological Significance of Albitite

The gold mineralisation at Loot and the adjacent Cashens Find Prospect is hosted within a grey, fine-grained felsic Albitite rock, characterised by abundant sulphide casts. Albitite is a metasomatic rock formed by chemical alteration through hydrothermal fluids, often associated with significant gold deposits in Western Australia’s Archean Yilgarn Craton. Similar Albitite-hosted gold deposits are known at prominent Western Australian gold camps such as Boulder Lefroy-Golden Mile and St Ives.

This geological setting opens a new exploration frontier for Surefire, as Albitite-hosted gold mineralisation has not been a primary focus in the Yidby area until now. The presence of high-grade gold in float samples 500 metres apart suggests a substantial mineralised system that warrants aggressive follow-up.

Drilling and Exploration Outlook

Surefire is currently processing results from a substantial reverse circulation drilling program, planned in two stages to total approximately 10,000 metres. The drilling aims to extend the main Yidby mineralisation along strike and at depth, test north-south extensions to the Cashens Prospect, and evaluate newly identified geophysical targets at Copper Hill. Previous drilling at Cashens Find has returned encouraging intersections, including wide zones of gold mineralisation with grades around 1 g/t Au and higher-grade intervals exceeding 12 g/t Au at depth.

The company’s exploration strategy is evolving rapidly, with the new Albitite discovery adding a compelling dimension to the Yidby project’s potential. The ongoing drilling results will be critical in defining the scale and continuity of this mineralisation and informing future resource estimates.

Strategic Leadership Changes

Alongside the exploration news, Surefire has announced a strategic realignment of its management. CEO Andrew Whitehead resigned recently, and the company has engaged industry veteran Marcus Flis through Rowntree Pty Ltd to assist with operations and project development. Mr Flis brings over 35 years of experience in exploration and resource development, including leadership roles in ASX-listed companies and major mining projects globally.

The CEO position will remain vacant during this transition as the board focuses on strengthening operational execution and unlocking value from its Western Australian asset portfolio. This leadership refresh signals Surefire’s commitment to advancing the Yidby project efficiently and capitalising on its newly discovered gold potential.
