Accelerate Resources Extends Shallow Gold Mineralisation at Balagundi Project

Mining By Maxwell Dee 4 min read

Accelerate Resources (ASX: AX8) has revealed encouraging shallow gold results from its Phase 2 RC drilling at the Balagundi Gold Project near Kalgoorlie, confirming multiple mineralised trends and refining exploration targets. The company also completed a sizable aircore program, with assay results pending.

  • Phase 2 RC drilling returns 13m @ 1.25g/t Au from surface at Paris Gift
  • Higher-grade intervals include 1m @ 11.48g/t Au within broader zones
  • Drilling refines structural controls and targets across Balagundi
  • 59-hole aircore program completed, assays expected in May
  • Broader system potential supported by recent Delta Trend discovery

Shallow Gold Mineralisation Confirmed at Paris Gift

Accelerate Resources Limited (ASX:AX8) has delivered further evidence of shallow gold mineralisation at its Balagundi Gold Project, located just 15km east of Kalgoorlie, Western Australia. The company's Phase 2 reverse circulation (RC) drilling program, comprising 21 holes for 1,720m, returned notable results at the Paris Gift target, including a broad 13m intercept grading 1.25g/t gold from surface (hole 26BGRC014) and a higher-grade 10m zone averaging 1.34g/t gold from 48m depth, which includes 1m at 11.48g/t gold (hole 26BGRC017). These results reinforce the prospectivity of the Paris Gift Trend and confirm the presence of shallow oxide gold mineralisation with localised higher-grade zones.

Structural Model Refinement Guides Next Exploration Phase

The drilling campaign also encompassed six holes at the Iron Bound Prospect, where results have reshaped the geological understanding of the area. Accelerate now interprets the northeast-trending Iron Bound structure as a late-stage offset fault featuring quartz infill and zones of supergene enrichment, likely explaining historic artisanal workings. These insights are sharpening the company's focus on the most prospective structural corridors within Balagundi, laying the groundwork for more targeted exploration.

CEO Luke Meter highlighted the importance of these findings: "While results at Paris Gift were variable, the program returned further shallow gold mineralisation, including a broad near-surface intercept and a higher-grade interval, supporting the trend's prospectivity. Just as importantly, the program has helped refine our understanding of multiple mineralised structures across Balagundi." He pointed to the scale of alteration, widespread gold occurrences, and the recent Delta Trend discovery as indicators of a larger gold system and a compelling exploration opportunity.

Aircore Drilling Expands Target Coverage

Following the RC program, Accelerate completed a Phase 2 aircore (AC) drilling campaign with 59 holes totaling 3,614m across multiple prospects within the Greater Balagundi Project. This drilling aims to test shallow bedrock mineralisation and undercover extensions, generating new drill-ready targets. Assay results from this program are expected in early May 2026, which could add further clarity to the project's potential.

These developments come shortly after the company resumed drilling at the Fluffy Prospect, a high-priority target within Balagundi, following a 30-year hiatus. The Fluffy program seeks to build on historic intercepts and new geophysical data, with assay results also pending. This ongoing work complements the broader exploration strategy to systematically unlock Balagundi's mineralised potential, as detailed in recent updates including the resumes drilling at Fluffy Prospect.

Balagundi Positioned as Underexplored Gold System

Balagundi sits within the Norseman–Wiluna greenstone belt, a proven gold province, yet remains underexplored despite its proximity to established mining hubs. Accelerate holds an earn-in agreement to acquire up to 80% interest and controls key tenements hosting basalts, dolerites, sediments, and felsic intrusives with significant structural complexity. The combination of multiple mineralised trends, alteration zones, and recent discoveries like the Delta Trend under cover bolsters the case for a larger, fertile gold system.

The company’s systematic approach; integrating drilling results with structural interpretation and historic data; aims to refine priority targets and advance Balagundi toward a meaningful gold discovery. The coming months, particularly with pending assay results from the aircore program and ongoing drilling at Fluffy, will be critical in assessing the project's trajectory.

Bottom Line?

Accelerate’s latest drilling confirms shallow gold with promising structural insights, setting the stage for upcoming assay results and refined targeting at Balagundi.

Questions in the middle?

  • Will assay results from the Phase 2 aircore program reveal extensions to the known mineralised zones?
  • How will the refined structural models influence drill targeting and resource estimation at Balagundi?
  • Can the integration of recent discoveries like the Delta and Fluffy Trends translate into a significant gold resource?
