Enegex Unveils New Gold Zone at Tougbe with Drilling Underway
Enegex has identified a promising new gold prospective zone at the AW1 prospect in Côte d’Ivoire’s Tougbe Permit, supported by artisanal sampling and a completed aircore drilling campaign. The company is gearing up for a substantial 3,000m reverse circulation drill program at the nearby Gogo Permit’s Bonoubana Trend.
- New gold prospective zone AW1 identified at Tougbe with artisanal pits averaging 1.26g/t Au
- 19-hole aircore drilling completed at AW1, assay results pending
- Strong historical intercepts at Kalama Bave referenced, including 24m at 3.72g/t Au
- 3,000m RC drill program planned for early May on Bonoubana Trend, Gogo Permit
- Western Australia’s Rocky Ridge AC drilling confirms anomalous gold values
New Gold Zone Emerges at Tougbe
Enegex Limited (ASX:ENX) has spotlighted a fresh gold target within its Côte d’Ivoire portfolio, unveiling the AW1 prospect on the Tougbe Permit. Situated just 4.5km from the already prolific Kalama Bave prospect, AW1 features a 500-metre stretch of artisanal workings with pit samples averaging a respectable 1.26 grams per tonne (g/t) gold. Notably, 13 of 36 samples exceeded 0.1g/t Au, with standout values reaching 7.83g/t.
The gold mineralisation here is unusual, occurring predominantly in saprolite derived from deeply weathered metasediments without the typical quartz veining. This points to a disseminated style of mineralisation, which could signal a broader, less structurally constrained gold system than previously recognised. The AW1 zone lies on a major northeast-trending structure, parallel and east of Kalama Bave’s mineralised corridor, suggesting a new regional exploration focus for 2026.
Aircore Drilling Completes Initial Test at AW1
Bonoubana Trend Drilling Set for May
Looking ahead, Enegex is preparing to launch a substantial 3,000-metre reverse circulation (RC) drilling campaign on three targets within the Bonoubana Trend on the Gogo Permit. Although contractor delays have pushed the start date into early May, the program aims to test extensions of known mineralisation and new anomalies identified through prior auger and trenching work. The Gogo and Tougbe permits together cover a strategic 1,534 square kilometres along the southern extension of Burkina Faso’s Hounde Belt, a prolific gold province that hosts major deposits like Mana and Yaramoko.
Stream Sediment Sampling Nears Completion at Toumodi
Elsewhere in Côte d’Ivoire, a BLEG stream sediment sampling program at the recently granted Toumodi Permit is wrapping up. This 277 square kilometre permit lies along a highly prospective structural corridor about 20 kilometres from African Gold’s Blaffo Guetto deposit, which is currently under acquisition by Montage Gold Corporation. The sampling aims to establish early geochemical footprints to guide future drill targeting in this promising but less explored region.
Western Australia’s Rocky Ridge Drilling Confirms Anomalies
On the home front, Enegex has wrapped up a 49-hole, 1,582-metre aircore drilling program at its Rocky Ridge Prospect in the Perenjori Project, Western Australia. Targeting aeromagnetic anomalies beneath transported cover, the program intersected anomalous gold values, albeit at modest grades (up to 0.35g/t Au over 4 metres). The geology is dominated by mafic lithologies with mineralisation mostly within regolith, consistent with the orogenic gold style typical of the region. The company’s high-resolution UAV magnetic survey and advanced wavelet analysis helped refine drill targets, though land access restrictions limited coverage in some areas.
Enegex’s Managing Director Paul Roberts highlighted the significance of these developments, noting the company’s expanding footprint of drill-ready targets across its Côte d’Ivoire permits and the upcoming RC campaign at Gogo. The combination of artisanal workings, coherent geochemical anomalies, and encouraging drill intercepts positions Enegex well to advance towards resource definition in this emerging gold province.
This update follows a series of recent positive exploration results from the Tougbe-Gogo permit group, including the strong aircore intercepts at Kalama Bave reported in late March, which confirmed extensive near-surface mineralisation and set the stage for deeper drilling programs.
Bottom Line?
Enegex’s discovery of disseminated gold mineralisation at AW1 and its upcoming RC drilling at Gogo could redefine the company’s near-term growth trajectory in Côte d’Ivoire, but assay results and drill outcomes will be critical to confirm the scale and continuity of these targets.
Questions in the middle?
- Will the pending AW1 aircore assay results confirm a significant disseminated gold system?
- How effectively will the planned 3,000m RC drilling at Gogo extend known mineralisation along the Bonoubana Trend?
- To what extent can Enegex leverage artisanal workings and geochemical anomalies to accelerate resource delineation in Côte d’Ivoire?
