Yandal Resources Accelerates Drilling at Arrakis and Flushing Meadows with New Camp Operational

Intensified Drilling Activity at Arrakis

Yandal Resources (ASX:YRL) has ramped up its exploration efforts at the Ironstone Well-Barwidgee (IWB) Gold Project with two reverse circulation (RC) rigs and one diamond rig now active on site. The second RC rig arrived in early April and immediately commenced extensional drilling at the Arrakis prospect, focusing on extending the primary mineralised structure beyond 1.2 kilometres to the southeast, where it remains open and untested. Initial samples from the first two holes are already with the lab, with first assay results expected by late April or early May.

This drilling surge follows the company’s earlier mapping of the Arrakis structure and aligns with its strategy to delineate the scale and geometry of higher-grade mineralisation. Planned follow-up diamond drilling in May aims to assess the depth continuity and width of these mineralised zones, potentially adding significant detail to the understanding of this early-stage discovery.

Flushing Meadows Diamond Drilling Set to Begin

Meanwhile, heritage clearance has been secured ahead of schedule for the Flushing Meadows diamond drilling program, allowing site clearing to commence this week. This program targets eight diamond holes spaced 200 metres apart within fresh rock beneath the existing 268,000-ounce Mineral Resource Estimate (MRE) at Flushing Meadows, which hosts gold at approximately 1.1 grams per tonne. The diamond drilling will be preceded by RC pre-collar drilling, and an extensive air-core drilling campaign is planned for May across Flushing Meadows and the adjacent Giedi Prime target area.

Progress and Pauses at Other Targets

The two-hole diamond drilling program at the Nayla target, co-funded under the Western Australian Exploration Incentive Scheme (EIS), has been completed. This early-stage program sought to confirm the presence and nature of intrusive rocks and test for northwest-striking shear zones analogous to the nearby Siona Shear Zone. Results are anticipated within 4-6 weeks, potentially providing fresh insights into this underexplored area.

In contrast, the 600-metre Salusa RC drilling program has been temporarily paused due to recent rain events but is expected to resume once ground conditions improve. Salusa is notable for its high-grade intercepts, including 6 metres at 6.3 grams per tonne gold, and remains a key focus as Yandal looks to expand its footprint in the New England Granite target area.

Infrastructure and Strategic Positioning

Supporting these field activities is Yandal’s new exploration camp, centrally located within the IWB project area and fully operational. The camp enhances logistical efficiency and provides a base for staff and contractors during this intensive exploration phase. The company’s strong cash position underpins its confidence in executing an ambitious drilling schedule through 2026, which includes approximately 10 kilometres of RC, 5 kilometres of diamond, and 15 kilometres of air-core drilling.

Yandal’s approach reflects an ongoing commitment to consolidating recent discoveries like Arrakis and Siona while aggressively targeting new large-scale gold deposits within the prolific Yandal Greenstone Belt. This update builds on the company’s earlier announcements, such as the major 30,000m drilling campaign launched in March, which set the tone for a busy year ahead.

Resource Base and Exploration Potential

The IWB Gold Project currently holds a JORC-compliant Mineral Resource of 268,000 ounces at Flushing Meadows, with additional resources at the Mt McClure project totalling 182,200 ounces. Both the Arrakis and Siona discoveries remain at an early stage but show promising signs of significant mineralisation. Yandal’s systematic exploration strategy, combining geological targeting with modern drilling techniques, aims to unlock further ounces and extend mineralised zones, though assay results from ongoing programs will be critical to validating these prospects.
