Strong First-Pass Drilling Confirms Large Gold System

Golden Dragon Mining Ltd (ASX:GDR) has delivered encouraging early results from its Behring Bore prospect within the Cue Gold Project in Western Australia’s Murchison goldfields. The initial 18-hole Reverse Circulation (RC) drilling program, totalling 1,426 metres, intersected high-grade gold mineralisation close to surface, hosted within an altered, pyritic dolerite and associated quartz lodes. Notably, hole 26BB012 returned 4 metres at 4.36 grams per tonne (g/t) gold from 44 metres, nested within a broader 20-metre zone averaging 1.11 g/t Au.

This discovery confirms the presence and continuity of a significant mineralised system, with the prospect covering an extensive target area approximately 900 by 500 metres. The results bolster geological confidence in the interpretation of Behring Bore as part of a larger, coherent gold-bearing system with substantial upside potential. The mineralisation remains open along strike and at depth, highlighting the opportunity for further expansion.

Follow-Up Drilling Program Completed, Awaiting Assays

Building on these promising results, Golden Dragon has completed a follow-up RC drilling campaign comprising around 2,100 metres across three lines targeting the upper portion of the altered dolerite and adjacent lithological contacts. Samples were recently dispatched to ALS Laboratories in Perth, with assay turnaround expected in 5 to 6 weeks. The company is optimistic that these results will further delineate the mineralisation geometry and support resource definition efforts.

Managing Director Simon Buswell-Smith emphasised the significance of intersecting mineralisation in fresh rock and the consistency observed across multiple drill holes, stating that these outcomes mark an important step in unlocking the prospect’s potential. The company views Behring Bore as a large-scale, camp-style target warranting systematic phased drilling to better define the gold system.

The gold mineralisation at Behring Bore is hosted within the upper zones of an altered, pyritic dolerite sill, overlain by graphitic schists, situated in a structurally complex environment between a regional drag fold and the northern extent of the Big Bell Anticline. This setting is supported by strong multi-element geochemical anomalies and proximity to major shear zones, including the Big Bell Shear Zone and Cuddingwarra Shear.

Historical exploration in the Cue Project area has been limited by transported cover and shallow drilling, leaving significant areas underexplored. The current drilling program at Behring Bore is part of Golden Dragon’s broader strategy to test these advanced targets with modern techniques and deeper penetration, complementing recent work at other prospects such as Coodardy and the broader Cue Project, which covers over 600 square kilometres of highly prospective ground.

These efforts build on the company’s earlier identification of multiple high-priority gold targets across the Cue Project, with a recent independent review highlighting 14 priority targets, many of which remain underexplored by modern drilling methods. The ongoing exploration campaign aims to systematically test and expand these targets, with assay results from follow-up programs eagerly anticipated to guide next steps.

Golden Dragon’s sampling and assaying procedures adhere to industry standards, employing 4-metre composite sampling followed by one-metre splits for anomalous zones, with fire assay techniques conducted at accredited laboratories. The Cue Project tenements are held through Fastfield Pty Ltd, with Golden Dragon owning an 80% interest and Bruce Legendre holding the remaining 20%. The joint venture arrangement sees Golden Dragon sole-funding and managing exploration activities. The project tenure is in good standing, with engagement of the Wajarri Yamatji Group for cultural heritage surveys ensuring compliance with native title obligations.
