Nelson Resources (ASX:NES) has pushed the boundaries of its Gold Point Project in Nevada by confirming a large-scale, high-grade gold-silver system that extends well beyond the historic workings. Detailed geological mapping and rock chip sampling have identified multiple mineralisation styles, including intrusion-hosted quartz veins, skarn mineralisation, and brecciated vein material, with assays reaching 15.15g/t gold and 296g/t silver.

The company’s latest campaign targeted areas distal to the known high-grade veins, revealing a precious-metals rich magmatic-hydrothermal system that appears far more extensive than previously understood. This reinforces Nelson’s view of Gold Point as a district-scale opportunity rather than a series of isolated veins.

Skarn Mineralisation Footprint Grows Significantly

One of the standout developments is the expansion of skarn-style mineralisation, traced now for over 850 metres along the contact between the Sylvania Intrusive Complex and the Wyman Formation sedimentary units. A rock chip sample from silicified skarn material returned 15.15g/t Au, 43.2g/t Ag, and 0.278% copper, marking a substantial upgrade from earlier sampling that yielded grades closer to 1–2g/t gold.

This expanded skarn zone adds a new dimension to Gold Point’s exploration potential, complementing the multiple vein styles already identified. The presence of elevated tungsten and copper alongside gold and silver highlights the project’s critical minerals potential as well.

Strategic Claim Staking Secures Southern Extension

Nelson has also bolstered its position by staking 26 additional claims over the southern extension of the Sylvania Intrusion ridge. This newly acquired ground covers historic tungsten and copper workings such as the Ora Mae Tungsten Mine and North Star Prospect, areas now confirmed to be prospective for intrusion-related gold-silver and skarn mineralisation.

Preliminary sampling on the new claims has already returned encouraging results, including 7.05g/t gold and 150g/t silver in quartz vein breccia samples, reinforcing the strategic value of this expansion. The consolidation of the historic district under a single owner for the first time in over 140 years enables a unified and systematic exploration approach across the entire Gold Point system.

Preparing for Maiden Underground Drilling Program

With the mapping results in hand, Nelson is integrating geological data with ongoing mine rehabilitation, underground access restoration, geophysics, and 3D modelling to refine drill targets ahead of its maiden underground drilling campaign. The rehabilitation of the historic Orleans Mine is particularly important, as it will allow for shorter, more precise drill holes with improved angles and reduced costs compared to surface-only drilling.

The underground program is designed to test extensions of the historically mined high-grade veins and explore the broader district-scale mineralisation, including intrusion-hosted, skarn, and porphyry-style targets. The integration of multi-spectral LiDAR and systematic channel sampling underground will further enhance targeting precision.

This approach builds on Nelson’s recent progress, including the initiation of underground rehabilitation and geophysical surveys earlier this year, setting the stage for drilling expected in the second half of 2026. The company’s strategy to combine surface and underground data reflects a sophisticated exploration model aimed at unlocking Gold Point’s full potential underground rehab at Gold Point and geophysical surveys at Gold Point.

Historic Production and District-Scale Potential

Gold Point’s historical production of approximately 75,000 ounces of gold at grades between 20-30g/t was derived from just four of fifteen currently mapped high-grade veins. The new mapping and sampling efforts suggest that many more high-grade mineralised structures remain untested, offering a compelling exploration upside.

The project lies within the prolific Walker Lane structural corridor, which hosts over 40 million ounces of gold within a 90-kilometre radius, including significant deposits such as AngloGold Ashanti’s Silicon Project. Nelson’s expanding footprint and refined targeting position it well to tap into this richly endowed region.
