Aeris Resources Extends High-Grade Copper Zones at Tritton
Aeris Resources has confirmed a significant new mineralised trend at its Avoca Tank deposit and thicker copper intersections at Budgerygar, setting the stage for resource upgrades and potential mine plan enhancements at its Tritton Operation.
- New mineralised trend doubles Avoca Tank strike length
- High-grade copper intersections confirm deeper extensions
- Budgerygar drilling supports upgrade to Indicated Resource
- Resource updates targeted for Q4 FY26
- Drilling to continue into FY27 for further growth
Avoca Tank Discovery Expands High-Grade Copper Footprint
Aeris Resources (ASX:AIS) has revealed a new mineralised trend at its Avoca Tank deposit within the Tritton Operation, significantly extending the known high-grade copper strike length to over 200 metres, more than double the previously understood extent. The underground drilling campaign, ongoing since FY26, has delivered consistent high-grade copper intersections, including standout results such as 6.6 metres at 6.52% copper from drill hole ATEL122.
This new trend appears to connect with the central mineralised corridor currently being mined, pointing to a larger and more continuous mineralised system than earlier models suggested. Geological interpretation is underway to update the deposit’s geology model in preparation for a Mineral Resource update expected in Q4 FY26.
The expanded strike length and strong grades at Avoca Tank highlight the potential for near-term mine plan improvements, with additional high-grade underground ore complementing open pit feed. The company is maintaining two drill rigs on site to further delineate this trend and test extensions down dip and along strike.
Budgerygar Shows Thicker, High-Grade Intersections Supporting Resource Upgrade
At Budgerygar, the resource definition drilling program has completed with results indicating thicker copper sulphide intersections than previously modelled. Key drill holes returned intervals such as 39.5 metres at 1.72% copper (BDEL121) and 21.1 metres at 2.58% copper (BDEL116), supporting an upgrade from the current Inferred Mineral Resource to an Indicated classification for the 007 and 008 sulphide lenses.
The drilling also tested the down-dip extension of the 004 lens, with results expected to increase the Mineral Resource along this lens. Aeris plans to incorporate these results into an updated Mineral Resource estimate in Q4 FY26, with further drilling to resume in FY27 once new underground drill platforms are established.
Strategic Drilling Focus Across Tritton Operation
Beyond Avoca Tank and Budgerygar, Aeris is actively drilling the Tritton and South Wing deposits to target Mineral Resource growth and definition, including exploration of the Tritton Deeps extension below 3,850 metres RL. The company currently operates four underground drill rigs at Tritton, focusing on near-mine growth opportunities close to existing infrastructure.
Executive Chairman Andre Labuschagne emphasised the significance of these results, noting the deposits remain open at depth and along strike. He highlighted that the resource extensions could materially improve the mine plan by providing additional high-grade underground ore to supplement mill feed from open pits, underpinning Aeris’ prioritisation of resource definition and extension drilling in FY27.
The drilling success builds on Aeris’ broader growth strategy, which includes the recent Peel Mining acquisition aimed at extending the life of its Tritton operations. This exploration momentum follows a period of strong operational and financial performance, including a substantial equity raise and asset divestments earlier in the year, positioning Aeris to capitalise on its copper-gold portfolio efficiently amid strategic moves.
Bottom Line?
Aeris Resources’ drilling results at Tritton are reshaping the resource base, but the full impact on production and mine life hinges on upcoming Q4 resource updates and ongoing geological interpretation.
Questions in the middle?
- How will the new mineralised trend at Avoca Tank influence the mine’s production profile in FY27?
- What scale of resource upgrade can investors realistically expect from the Budgerygar drilling results?
- How might continued exploration at Tritton and South Wing deposits alter Aeris’ medium-term growth outlook?
