Legacy Minerals Holdings (ASX:LGM) has harnessed artificial intelligence to breathe fresh life into its Mt Carrington gold-silver project in New South Wales. By applying Vrify’s DORA AI platform to its extensive geological and geophysical datasets, the company has identified 38 priority targets for gold, silver, and copper mineralisation. These include both brownfields extensions near known deposits and new regional prospects beyond the existing 115Moz silver equivalent (AgEq) Mineral Resource.

Mt Carrington, already a heavyweight with a substantial resource base, benefits from decades of exploration. The AI-assisted targeting has not only confirmed established trends around Mt Carrington, White Rock, and Mascotte but also uncovered fresh opportunities at Omega, Zi, Mars, and Callisto. These newly ranked targets expand the project’s discovery pipeline and offer new avenues for resource growth.

Brownfields and Regional Targets Poised for Growth

The AI study’s brownfields findings are particularly compelling. It highlights extensional targets near existing mineralisation zones, open along strike and at depth, which could bolster resource tonnage and grade. For instance, at the silver-rich White Rock area, new targets like Lambda, Nu, Gamma, and Link have emerged as promising drill targets. This refined prioritisation allows Legacy Minerals to sequence exploration programs more efficiently and sharpen drill designs within a complex mineralised system.

Beyond the known resource footprint, regional targets such as Omega, Zi, Mars, and Callisto represent semi-coincident zones with previously recognised prospects, offering fresh discovery potential in underexplored parts of the district. These targets are driven by integrated structural, geophysical, and radiometric data, consistent with deep-seated feeder structures that may control mineralisation. The company plans staged follow-up work including mapping, sampling, and target refinement before drilling.

Emu Prospect Drilling to Test AI-Derived Targets

Legacy Minerals is gearing up to drill the first of these AI-generated targets at the Emu Prospect, a structurally complex greenfields area identified as a high-priority opportunity. Emu’s coincident structural, geophysical, and geochemical signatures suggest potential for copper-gold-silver mineralisation at depth. This upcoming drill campaign complements the company’s broader strategy to grow the Mt Carrington resource and advance its scoping study, which previously highlighted a potential first-quartile all-in sustaining cost (AISC) of A$1,188 per ounce.

Meanwhile, assay results from the Mascotte Prospect’s recent drilling remain pending, with further drilling approvals and site preparations underway. This sequencing of exploration activities follows the company’s recent 8,000m drilling approval covering Mascotte and Emu, which aims to test extensions and new porphyry-epithermal targets.

AI as a Strategic Exploration Tool

The use of Vrify’s DORA platform at Mt Carrington exemplifies how AI can integrate disparate datasets; historical drilling, geochemistry, geophysics including recent Mobile MT surveys; and apply machine learning to recognise complex spatial patterns. While the AI outputs serve as a target generation and ranking tool rather than definitive proof of mineralisation, they provide a disciplined framework to prioritise exploration capital and refine drill planning.

Vrify’s technology has previously aided discoveries for companies like Southern Cross Gold and Equinox Gold, underscoring its growing acceptance in the mineral exploration sector. Legacy Minerals’ CEO Christopher Byrne emphasised that the AI results help focus efforts on both resource extensions and new discovery zones, feeding a strong pipeline of near-term catalysts at Mt Carrington.
