Execution Risks Rise as Pro Medicus Wins A$90M US Imaging Contract
Pro Medicus’ US arm Visage Imaging has landed a significant 7-year, A$90 million contract to deploy its cloud-based Visage 7 platform across Beth Israel Lahey Health, marking another major foothold in North America's healthcare imaging market.
- A$90 million, 7-year contract with Beth Israel Lahey Health
- Full-stack Visage 7 platform deployment in cloud
- Migration from legacy PACS to Visage 7 Open Archive
- Transaction-based licensing model with upside potential
- Go-live targeted for Q1 2027
Major US Healthcare System Chooses Pro Medicus Cloud Platform
Pro Medicus Limited (ASX:PME) has secured a substantial 7-year contract worth A$90 million through its US subsidiary Visage Imaging, inked with Boston-based Beth Israel Lahey Health. This healthcare system encompasses 14 hospitals, more than 4,700 physicians, and 39,000 employees, spanning Eastern Massachusetts and Southern New Hampshire.
The deal covers a full-stack implementation of the Visage 7 Enterprise Imaging Platform, including the Viewer, Workflow, and Open Archive modules. The platform will be deployed entirely in the cloud, replacing Beth Israel Lahey Health’s legacy PACS archives and integrating diagnostic imaging directly with their electronic health record (EHR) system. Planning for rollout begins immediately, with a go-live slated for the first quarter of 2027.
CloudPACS Strategy Gains Traction in North America
Dr Sam Hupert, CEO of Pro Medicus, highlighted that Beth Israel Lahey Health joins a growing roster of clients opting for the company’s fully cloud-based platform. This aligns with the company’s CloudPACS strategy, which is increasingly becoming the benchmark for healthcare IT solutions in the North American market.
The contract’s transaction-based licensing model offers potential upside beyond the base value, reflecting confidence in the platform’s scalability and usage growth. This deal complements recent contract wins, including a 5-year A$23 million cloud imaging agreement with the University of Maryland Medical System, which also features a similar rollout timeline and licensing structure.
Expanding Footprint Amid Strong Contract Pipeline
Pro Medicus’ pipeline remains robust across multiple healthcare segments, with this latest contract demonstrating demand for the full Visage 7 suite; Viewer, Workflow, and Archive; rather than partial deployments. The company’s cloud-native approach is designed to enhance diagnostic efficiency and streamline image management across large health systems.
This follows a string of recent contract renewals and expansions, such as the A$37 million extension with Northwestern Medicine, which included increased fees per transaction and minimum usage commitments, indicating rising exam volumes and platform adoption.
Bottom Line?
Pro Medicus’ expanding cloud footprint in major US health systems signals growing acceptance of its full-stack Visage 7 platform, but execution of this large rollout will be key to realising revenue potential.
Questions in the middle?
- How will the rollout timing and scale impact Pro Medicus’ near-term revenue recognition?
- Can the transaction-based licensing model drive meaningful upside beyond the contract minimum?
- Will competitive pressures in US healthcare imaging accelerate further cloud adoption?
