Rosapenna Gold Zone Remains Open as Drilling Expands Mineralisation
Meeka Metals has expanded gold mineralisation at its Rosapenna target within the Fairway shear zone, pushing the strike length to 670 metres and confirming the area’s exploration upside in the Murchison Gold Project.
- Step-out drilling hits multiple gold zones up to 99.14g/t
- Rosapenna strike extends 670m and remains open south
- Ongoing drilling targets 3km corridor between Turnberry and St Anne’s
- Fairway shear zone remains largely underexplored over 25km
- Results highlight potential for new discoveries in Archean greenstones
Rosapenna Drilling Uncovers High-Grade Gold Zones
Meeka Metals Limited (ASX:MEK) has delivered a fresh batch of encouraging exploration results from the Rosapenna target, nestled within the Fairway shear zone at its Murchison Gold Project. Step-out reverse circulation drilling south of Turnberry has intersected broad zones of gold mineralisation, including a standout 1 metre intercept grading 99.14 grams per tonne (g/t) from 73 metres depth (hole 26TBRC0023). Other notable hits include 8 metres at 1.83g/t from 78 metres and 17 metres at 0.69g/t from 45 metres, confirming the presence of multiple mineralised lenses along a strike now extended to 670 metres and still open to the south.
The gold mineralisation is hosted within sheared and quartz-veined mafic rocks beneath approximately 30 metres of tertiary cover, consistent with the Archean orogenic style typical of the region. This latest drilling phase continues to build on earlier discoveries, underscoring Rosapenna’s growing footprint as a key exploration focus.
Targeting a 3km Corridor Between Established Deposits
Drilling remains active along the roughly 3-kilometre Fairway corridor that links the Turnberry deposit (690,000 ounces at 2.0g/t) to the St Anne’s deposit (40,000 ounces at 3.1g/t). Meeka is preparing additional drill pads to push exploration further south of the current Rosapenna intercepts, aiming to test the strike extension and continuity of mineralisation within this major regional structure.
Fairway is a significant ~25-kilometre-long contact zone that has seen limited modern drilling, with much of the prior work from the 1990s and 2000s consisting of broad-spaced reconnaissance RAB drilling. The current results demonstrate the potential for new discoveries within this underexplored belt of Archean greenstones, which remains a fertile ground for orogenic gold mineralisation.
Strategic Exploration Momentum Builds
Managing Director Tim Davidson emphasised the broader growth opportunity, stating the strong gold results from this first-pass, broad-spaced drilling highlight the potential within the Fairway shear zone. The ongoing program is systematically expanding the Rosapenna footprint, with mineralisation still open to the south and further targets planned for testing.
This exploration momentum complements Meeka’s recent strategic moves, including the acquisition of gold tenements around Mt Holland, which opens up additional avenues for resource growth through a planned 20,000 metre drilling campaign gold tenements acquisition. Meanwhile, the company’s Murchison operations continue to evolve with processing upgrades and production adjustments, reflecting a dynamic approach to project development gold output amid weather.
Technical Rigor and Future Work
The drilling program employs industry-standard reverse circulation and diamond core methods, with rigorous sampling and assay protocols overseen by Competent Person James Lawrence. The data collected supports ongoing resource estimation efforts and will inform the next phases of infill and extensional drilling planned to test additional targets along the Fairway trend.
With the mineralisation open along strike and at depth, Meeka’s methodical approach to expanding its footprint in this Archean greenstone belt could unlock further value as new zones are delineated and integrated into the broader Murchison resource base.
Bottom Line?
Rosapenna’s expanding gold footprint within a largely underexplored shear zone positions Meeka Metals for potential resource growth, but ongoing drilling will be critical to define the extent and continuity of mineralisation.
Questions in the middle?
- How will further drilling south of Rosapenna impact the overall resource estimate?
- What is the potential scale of gold mineralisation along the entire 25km Fairway shear zone?
- How might Meeka balance exploration with advancing processing upgrades at Murchison?
