Vita Resources Expands Ninnis Gold Drilling After Strong Soil Anomalies
Vita Resources has uncovered multiple large gold in soil anomalies at its Ninnis Gold Project in WA, prompting an expanded drilling program targeting key fault zones.
- Multiple gold anomalies up to 600m long
- Infill drilling added to maiden auger campaign
- Project near major Eastern Goldfields mines
- Drilling contractor to remobilise soon
- Initial assays show gold peaks to 47 ppb
Gold Anomalies Spur Expanded Drilling
Vita Resources NL (ASX:VTA) has revealed promising early results from its maiden auger drilling at the 100% owned Ninnis Gold Project in Western Australia. The initial 850-hole campaign uncovered multiple large gold in soil anomalies, including a 600-metre northwest-trending anomaly in the northern sector and a consistent 500 by 300-metre anomaly in the south. Peak assays reached 47 parts per billion (ppb) gold, well above the 10 ppb contour used to define anomalies.
Following these encouraging results, Vita has expanded its program to include approximately 300 infill holes designed to target two sub-parallel fault zones identified as key structural controls on mineralisation. These infill holes will complement the remaining 350 holes from the original plan, with drilling expected to resume shortly under contractor GYRO Drilling and take about 20 days to complete. This expansion reflects a strategic pivot to focus on the most prospective areas highlighted by the initial wide-spaced sampling.
Strategic Location in a Prolific Gold Belt
The Ninnis Gold Project covers 25 square kilometres approximately 30 kilometres west of Laverton in the Eastern Goldfields, a region renowned for multi-million-ounce gold deposits. The project shares geological characteristics with the nearby Mount Morgans Gold Mining Centre operated by Genesis Minerals Limited (ASX:GMD), including mafic rocks and banded iron formations along the western side and a major shear zone to the east.
Ninnis sits near significant gold operations such as the Wallaby and Just in Case mines, which boast over 2.2 million ounces in reserves, and the Granny Smith and Sunrise Dam mines, both prolific producers in the region. Magnetic Resources’ Lady Julie Project, with a 2.1 million-ounce resource, is also located to the east, underscoring the mineral potential surrounding Ninnis.
Maiden Drilling Program Details and Methodology
The initial auger campaign involved 850 holes drilled along 39 lines spaced 200 metres north-south and 100 metres east-west, with some areas closer spaced to 50 metres east-west to refine anomalies. Samples were collected from about one metre depth using mechanised auger drilling and assayed at Lab West in Malaga using proprietary ultrafine methods. Quality control included duplicate samples and GPS location verification to ensure data integrity.
Non-Executive Chairman Gavin Rutherford highlighted that the drilling intersected two sub-parallel fault systems believed to control the mineralised system. Despite weather-related delays that forced a temporary demobilisation, the expanded program now combines the completion of the initial holes with infill drilling, optimising operational efficiency. This approach follows the earlier pause after cyclone impact and mobilisation phases of the drilling campaign.
Next Steps and Exploration Potential
With the expanded drilling underway, Vita aims to delineate the extent and continuity of the gold anomalies and refine geological models to assess the project's potential. The company’s strategy to focus on structural controls aligns with exploration best practices in shear-hosted gold systems typical of the Yilgarn Craton.
Vita’s recent capital raise featuring innovative partly paid shares, which raised $100,000, provides additional working capital to support ongoing exploration activities, including at Ninnis and other projects in its portfolio. This financial maneuvering complements the technical progress and reflects a broader effort to advance its resource pipeline efficiently.
Bottom Line?
The expanded drilling at Ninnis Gold sets the stage for more detailed targeting of structural controls, but results remain preliminary pending further assay data and geological interpretation.
Questions in the middle?
- Will the infill drilling confirm continuity of gold mineralisation along the fault zones?
- How might Vita balance exploration expenditure with its novel partly paid share capital structure?
- Could Ninnis evolve into a significant resource given its proximity to major deposits?
