ClearVue’s Bespoke Solar Façade for Canva
ClearVue Technologies Limited (ASX:CPV) has landed a notable contract to outfit Canva’s new headquarters in Surry Hills, Sydney, with its building-integrated photovoltaic (BIPV) products. The deal, valued at around A$600,000, involves deploying three ClearVue product families; Solar Skylight, Solar Balustrade, and rooftop solar panels; across more than 660 square metres of the building envelope. This installation is designed to generate approximately 75kW of power and produce a minimum of 88,000kWh annually, contributing to the building’s goal of exceeding a 5 Star NABERS rating.
The Letter of Intent, issued by Infinity Construction Group, confirms ClearVue as the successful tenderer, with a formal sub-contract expected within 14 days. Infinity, a multi-award-winning commercial builder active across Melbourne and Sydney, will oversee project delivery over an estimated 180-day timeline.
Engineering Tailored to Architectural and Functional Needs
The project highlights ClearVue’s capacity for bespoke engineering. The Solar Balustrade, installed within a landscaped garden area, features a custom framing system that conceals all electrical wiring and integrates ClearVue’s latest Thermal Management Junction Box, ensuring waterproof performance and aesthetic integrity. This innovation allows the garden space to remain fully usable while contributing to energy generation.
ClearVue’s Solar Skylight is designed as a trafficable, low-glare solution that reduces solar heat transmission by around 80%, enhancing staff comfort without sacrificing natural light or energy production. The rooftop solar array, integrated into planter boxes to mitigate urban heat island effects, uses standard panels with bespoke cable management to meet unique waterproofing demands.
These engineering advancements build on ClearVue’s recent TÜV SÜD certification for its Thermal Management Junction Box, which validates its safety and durability for global BIPV deployment, reinforcing the company’s product reliability and innovation credentials junction box certification.
Strategic Momentum in Commercial BIPV Projects
ClearVue’s CEO Doug Hunt emphasised the project as a demonstration of the company’s growing supply chain capabilities and technological progress. He noted that the bespoke engineering for Canva’s headquarters, particularly the new balustrade framing and advanced solar control coatings, validates ClearVue’s ability to meet the demands of leading global organisations integrating clean energy into their buildings.
This contract follows recent wins that have expanded ClearVue’s footprint internationally, including a substantial manufacturing deal in India and a contract for a Cyprus redevelopment project, signalling the company’s accelerating commercialisation of its solar façade technology manufacturing deal India and Cyprus redevelopment contract.
Infinity Construction Group’s founder Alan Yazbek praised the collaboration with ClearVue, highlighting the practical problem-solving approach and the integration of energy generation directly into the building envelope without compromising design or buildability.
Bottom Line?
ClearVue’s bespoke engineering and high-profile contract with Canva underscore its rising profile in the BIPV market, but contract finalisation and project delivery will be key near-term milestones.
Questions in the middle?
- Will ClearVue secure further contracts leveraging its bespoke engineering capabilities?
- How will the formal contract execution within 14 days impact project timelines and revenue recognition?
