Arrakis Drilling Confirms Continuity and High-Grade Domains
Yandal Resources has bolstered confidence in its Arrakis gold discovery within the Ironstone Well-Barwidgee project, reporting strong extensional RC drilling results that reinforce a continuous mineralised system exceeding 1.2 kilometres in strike. Notably, intercepts such as 13 metres at 1.6 grams per tonne (g/t) gold from 206 metres, including 8 metres at 2.2 g/t, and 11 metres at 1.7 g/t from 84 metres, including 6 metres at 2.8 g/t, demonstrate persistent mineralisation with clearly defined higher-grade zones.
The company’s targeted infill drilling on the 6,250mN line intercepted mineralisation in every hole, highlighting the broadening of the host porphyry down dip and along strike. For example, hole 26IWBRC0102 returned 11 metres at 1.3 g/t gold from 236 metres, including 3 metres at 1.8 g/t and 2 metres at 3.2 g/t. These results suggest the presence of sub-vertical plunging high-grade domains open at depth, underpinning both open pit and underground exploration potential.
Structural Insights and Southeast Extension Await Assays
Drilling across the 5,950mN and 5,850mN lines confirmed a north-south striking shear zone offsets the Arrakis stratigraphy, explaining the absence of mineralisation in these sections. Importantly, RC drilling targeting the southeast offset continuation successfully intersected comparable stratigraphy, validating the geological model and hinting at the system’s extension beyond the shear zone. Assay results from these holes are anticipated in June, offering a crucial test of the mineralised system’s lateral continuity.
Flushing Meadows Diamond Drilling Reveals Fresh Rock Potential
At Flushing Meadows, diamond drilling beneath the current 268,000-ounce Mineral Resource Estimate (MRE) has intersected the targeted mineralised structures down-dip of known mineralisation. Six of eight planned holes have been completed, with geological logging revealing multiple parallel structures of interest in both the hanging-wall and footwall. These sub-parallel zones, previously untested near surface, could materially enhance the deposit’s scale if assays confirm significant gold mineralisation.
The fresh rock mineralisation is hosted within a thick sequence of pillowed basalt flows intruded by felsic porphyry dykes, which localise deformation and sulphide mineralisation. The presence of intense ductile shear fabrics, breccias, and sulphide replacement zones dominated by pyrite and pyrrhotite points to complex structural controls on gold deposition. Samples from the first diamond hole have been prioritised for assay, with results expected within weeks.
Expanding Exploration with Air-Core Drilling and Gravity Surveys
Complementing the RC and diamond drilling, Yandal has commenced a 10,000-metre air-core program over the broader Flushing Meadows and Giedi Prime targets on 800-metre spaced lines. This program aims to test conceptual and structural targets parallel to the existing Flushing Meadows deposit, potentially unlocking new mineralised zones.
Additionally, infill ground gravity surveys across Arrakis, Flushing Meadows, and Giedi Prime are refining structural and stratigraphic models to sharpen targeting. These geophysical inputs are critical for understanding the complex geology and guiding future drill programs.
Ongoing Drilling and Resource Growth Prospects
Yandal Resources continues to advance an active exploration schedule through 2026, supported by a strong cash position. The company is progressing approximately 10 kilometres of RC drilling, 5 kilometres of diamond drilling, and 15 kilometres of air-core drilling across multiple targets including Arrakis, Flushing Meadows, and the New England Granite area.
Near-term catalysts include assay results from the southeast extension drilling at Arrakis, further infill RC results defining higher-grade mineralisation geometry, and diamond drilling assays assessing depth continuity. At Flushing Meadows, RC pre-collar assays and diamond core results will inform potential resource upgrades, while air-core drilling results over Giedi Prime are expected by late July.
Bottom Line?
Yandal’s drilling programs at Arrakis and Flushing Meadows are generating promising geological and assay data, but pending results will be critical to confirm the scale and grade continuity necessary for resource expansion.
Questions in the middle?
- Will assays from the southeast offset drilling at Arrakis confirm the mineralised system’s lateral continuity?
- Can the multiple parallel structures identified at Flushing Meadows deliver meaningful resource growth beyond the current 268,000-ounce estimate?
- How will the ongoing air-core drilling reshape targeting across the broader Flushing Meadows and Giedi Prime areas?
