Accelerate Resources Launches RC Drilling at Spencers Gold Discovery
Accelerate Resources has initiated a 1,200m reverse circulation drilling program at its newly identified Spencers gold prospect within the expanded Balagundi Gold Project, aiming to validate and extend promising shallow gold mineralisation.
- Maiden RC drilling underway at Spencers prospect
- Follow-up to shallow aircore results with up to 9m @ 1.75 g/t Au
- Drilling targets a 300m mineralised trend open along strike and down-dip
- Balagundi project area expanded by ~80% to 62km² after Maritana deal
- Assay results pending to confirm mineralisation continuity and grade
Maiden RC Drilling Targets Deeper Gold Zones at Spencers
Accelerate Resources Limited (ASX:AX8) has commenced its first reverse circulation (RC) drilling campaign at the Spencers Gold Prospect, a recent shallow discovery within the Balagundi Gold Project located just 15km east of Kalgoorlie, Western Australia. The program, comprising approximately 15 holes for 1,200 metres, aims to test a 300-metre mineralised trend initially defined by aircore drilling earlier this year.
The aircore results that prompted this follow-up drilling were notable, including intercepts such as 28 metres at 1.01 g/t Au and 8 metres at 1.42 g/t Au. Subsequent 1-metre resampling refined these findings, revealing higher-grade zones within the broader mineralised envelope, including 9 metres at 1.75 g/t Au and 7 metres at 1.85 g/t Au. The RC drilling will provide the first deeper test of these mineralised zones, seeking to confirm the orientation, thickness, and grade continuity of the gold system, as well as to identify potential higher-grade shoots.
Strategic Expansion of Balagundi Project Enhances Exploration Pipeline
The Spencers discovery is part of Accelerate’s expanding footprint at Balagundi, which recently grew by approximately 80% to 62 square kilometres through a binding transaction with Maritana Minerals Limited (ASX:MRT). This acquisition secured additional tenure over the interpreted extension of the Delta Trend and bolstered Accelerate’s platform for systematic exploration across multiple gold targets.
Accelerate’s CEO, Luke Meter, highlighted the significance of the drilling commencement: "Our aircore drilling defined a coherent shallow gold system over approximately 300 metres of strike, and follow-up 1 metre sampling has now refined several higher-grade zones within the broader discovery. This program is designed to provide the first deeper test of Spencers, confirm the aircore results and improve our understanding of the structure and controls on mineralisation." The company is concurrently consolidating historical data and preparing geological mapping across the new tenure to refine priority targets within the Balagundi gold camp.
Balagundi Positioned in a Prospective Greenstone Belt
The Balagundi Gold Project lies within the Norseman–Wiluna greenstone belt, one of Western Australia’s premier gold provinces. The project area hosts a complex package of basalts, dolerites, sediments, and felsic intrusives, with gold mineralisation associated with key structural corridors and historic workings. Despite its location, Balagundi has seen limited modern exploration, positioning Accelerate to potentially unlock significant value through systematic drilling and geological modelling.
The ongoing RC drilling program at Spencers is expected to take about one week to complete, with assay results to be released following validation and interpretation. These results will be closely watched as they will provide the first deeper insights into the Spencers system beyond the encouraging aircore intercepts, and could shape the next phase of exploration and resource definition at Balagundi.
Bottom Line?
The upcoming assay results from Spencers’ maiden RC drilling will be pivotal in assessing the true potential of this new gold discovery within Accelerate’s rapidly growing Balagundi portfolio.
Questions in the middle?
- Will the RC drilling confirm and extend the higher-grade zones identified by aircore sampling at Spencers?
- How will the expanded Balagundi tenure and new geological data influence Accelerate’s exploration priorities?
- Could Spencers evolve into a significant resource within the underexplored Norseman–Wiluna greenstone belt?
