Unity Metals Strengthens Gold Mineralisation at Rohav Mountain Prospect

Mining By Maxwell Dee 3 min read

Unity Metals reveals new drilling results from its Ngot Gold Project in Cambodia, highlighting a 5m intersection at 1.8 g/t gold and geological evidence of thickening diorite intrusion beneath basalt cover at Rohav Mountain.

  • New 5m @ 1.8 g/t gold intersection at Rohav Mountain
  • Gold mineralisation linked to altered diorite intrusion and quartz-sulphide veins
  • Diorite intrusion thickens under basalt cover, extending mineralisation
  • Maiden 8,238m drilling program completed at Ngot NE Prospect
  • Pending assays for key drill holes at Ngot NE and Srolao prospects

New Gold Intersection Highlights Strengthening Mineralisation

Unity Metals Limited (ASX:UM1) has reported fresh diamond drilling results from its Ngot Gold Project in Cambodia, with a standout 5-metre intersection grading 1.8 grams per tonne (g/t) gold from 196 metres at the Rohav Mountain Prospect. This intercept lies just 150 metres southwest of a previously reported 23-metre zone averaging 0.9 g/t gold, including 6 metres at 1.9 g/t, underscoring continuity along strike within a highly altered diorite intrusion.

Geological Mapping Reveals Thickening Diorite Under Basalt

The gold mineralisation at Rohav Mountain is closely associated with sheeted and stockwork quartz-pyrite-arsenopyrite veins hosted within or adjacent to a diorite intrusion over 150 metres wide and interpreted to extend at least 700 metres in length. Geological mapping and drill logging indicate the diorite thickens as it extends northeast beneath a shallow basalt cover, where gold grades appear to strengthen. This has prompted ongoing UAV magnetic and dipole-dipole induced polarisation geophysical surveys aimed at identifying new drill targets beneath the basalt cap.

Ngot NE Prospect Drilling Program Complete with Assays Pending

Unity has also wrapped up its maiden diamond drilling campaign at the Ngot NE Prospect, located near the Okvau Mine boundary. The 8,238-metre program across 50 holes has delivered a coherent gold-in-soil anomaly exceeding 10 parts per billion gold over a 2-kilometre by 0.7-kilometre area, with a peak assay of 1,000 ppb gold. While recent assays from seven holes returned no significant gold intersections, results for three holes remain outstanding. The prospect is notable for its strong arsenic-in-soil anomaly, which correlates closely with gold mineralisation and may guide future exploration.

Strategic Positioning Near Cambodia’s Largest Gold Mine

Unity’s Ngot Gold Project benefits from proximity to Emerald Resources NL’s Okvau Mine, Cambodia’s largest gold operation with a 1.3 million-ounce resource. The geological setting and mineralisation style at Rohav Mountain and Ngot NE share similarities with the intrusion-related gold system at Okvau, enhancing the prospectivity of Unity’s licences. The company’s exploration approach combines detailed geological mapping, geophysical surveys, and systematic diamond drilling to delineate and expand gold mineralisation zones.

Next Steps and Exploration Focus

Unity Metals is awaiting assay results from key holes at Ngot NE and the Srolao Prospect, alongside the outcomes of geophysical surveys targeting concealed mineralisation beneath basalt cover. The thickening diorite and strengthening gold grades at Rohav Mountain provide a compelling case for further drilling to test extensions and depth continuity. These developments, combined with ongoing geological insights, will shape the next phase of exploration aimed at defining a significant intrusion-related gold resource in this underexplored region of Cambodia.

Bottom Line?

Pending assays and geophysical data will be critical to confirming the extent of gold mineralisation beneath basalt cover and advancing resource definition at Ngot.

Questions in the middle?

  • Will upcoming assay results at Ngot NE reveal new zones of economic gold mineralisation?
  • How extensive and continuous is the thickening diorite intrusion beneath basalt at Rohav Mountain?
  • Can Unity Metals leverage geophysical surveys to unlock concealed targets and accelerate drilling success?
