Strategic EPCM Partnership to Propel Lithium Ambitions

EAU Lithium, a subsidiary of Cosmos Exploration Limited (ASX:C1X), has formalised a Master Services Agreement (MSA) with Bolivian engineering giant SEPCON. This deal secures critical engineering, procurement, and construction management (EPCM) services that will underpin EAU Lithium’s efforts to deploy its Pilot Plant 4 (PP4) in Bolivia, potentially as soon as later this year.

SEPCON brings over two decades of South American infrastructure experience, with operations spanning Peru, Bolivia, Argentina, and Ecuador. Their track record includes complex projects in mining, energy, and civil works; a vital asset given the logistical challenges and environmental sensitivities of Bolivia’s lithium brine lakes.

Combining Local Expertise with German Technology

The agreement not only taps into SEPCON’s regional engineering capacity but also facilitates the deployment of German-developed VULSORB® A-DLE technology. Licensed to EAU Lithium via its strategic partner Vulcan Energy Resources, this closed-loop lithium extraction process promises minimal water usage and environmental footprint, a critical factor for Bolivia’s high-altitude, chemically complex reserves.

This collaboration aligns with EAU Lithium’s ambition to support Bolivia’s state lithium company, Yacimientos de Litio Bolivianos (YLB), in scaling lithium production responsibly. While the MSA covers pilot plant mobilisation, installation, transport, feasibility studies, and process optimisation, the ultimate success hinges on ongoing negotiations and regulatory approvals.

Building on Recent Corporate Milestones

The signing follows Cosmos Exploration’s May 2026 merger with EAU Lithium, which brought the latter’s executive team into the fold and reinforced the company’s Bolivian lithium focus. The partnership with Vulcan Energy Resources and the technology licensing agreement remain central to this strategy, underpinning the technical approach to unlocking Bolivia’s lithium reserves.

While financial terms of the agreement remain undisclosed, the MSA marks a tangible step forward in transitioning from exploration to potential production. The pilot plant’s deployment will be a key milestone to watch, as it will test the viability of the VULSORB® technology in Bolivia’s unique environment.

Bottom Line?

The SEPCON agreement advances EAU Lithium’s pilot plant ambitions, but execution and regulatory hurdles in Bolivia will be pivotal.

Questions in the middle?

  • How will pilot plant results influence broader lithium production plans in Bolivia?
  • What are the timelines and regulatory risks associated with scaling VULSORB® technology locally?
  • Will SEPCON’s regional expertise translate into efficient project delivery amid Bolivia’s complex operating environment?
