Maiden Drilling Unveils Copper-Silver Mineralization at Killero E

Cullen Resources (ASX:CUL) has reported encouraging results from the first diamond drilling campaign at the Killero E copper-gold project in Northern Finland, operated through its joint venture with Capella Minerals (TSXV: CMIL). The 2,008-metre program over nine holes has intersected copper-rich massive sulfide mineralization hosted within quartz-carbonate vein zones along the Killero Fault/Shear Zone.

The drilling targeted historical Base of Till (BoT) copper-gold anomalies originally identified by Anglo American and confirmed the Killero Fault/Shear Zone dips steeply northwest. This structural corridor features a 40-metre-wide downhole zone of quartz-carbonate veining with variable sulfide content, primarily hosted in fine-grained meta-gabbro and mafic metavolcanic rocks.

Notable Copper and Silver Intercepts Highlight Potential

Among the significant intercepts, hole KE-001A returned 0.76 metres grading 3.7% copper and 19.6 grams per tonne silver from 182.8 metres downhole, featuring massive pyrrhotite and chalcopyrite mineralization. Other highlights include 0.7 metres at 1.5% copper plus 7 g/t silver in KE-006 and a 5-metre zone of zinc-copper-silver mineralization in KE-004, which was cut short due to a drill rig mechanical failure but suggests proximity to a massive sulfide deposit.

These results provide a vital first glimpse into the geology beneath the BoT anomalies and bolster the JV’s understanding of mineralization vectors within this underexplored district-scale shear zone.

Killero W Gold Targets and Broader Scandinavian Exploration

Looking ahead, diamond drilling is set to commence on two priority gold targets at the nearby Killero W project by the end of June 2026. These targets are defined by gold-rich BoT geochemical anomalies associated with northeast-trending structural corridors, complementing the copper focus at Killero E.

Additionally, reconnaissance Base of Till and Top of Bedrock surveys have been completed over the Jolhikko and Seisunselka gold targets, with follow-up drilling contingent on assay results. In Norway, permitting continues for an 8,000-metre diamond drill program at the Hessjøgruva copper-cobalt-zinc project, with federal environmental agency approval anticipated post-summer recess.

Strategic Positioning Amid Regional Consolidation

The Cullen-Capella JV projects sit approximately 40 kilometres southwest of Agnico Eagle Mines’ producing Kittila Gold Mine. Agnico’s recent acquisition of Rupert Resources has effectively surrounded the JV’s five projects, potentially enhancing the strategic value of Cullen’s portfolio within the Central Lapland Greenstone Belt.

Capella’s President and CEO, Eric Roth, noted the operational challenges faced during the maiden drill program, including longer assay turnaround times, but emphasised the value of the initial data in guiding future exploration along the Killero Fault/Shear Zone.

With drilling poised to expand into gold targets and permitting progressing in Norway, Cullen’s Scandinavian joint venture is entering a critical phase that could unlock multi-commodity potential across this emerging mineral belt.
