Abacus Storage King has finalised its internalisation process, appointing Nikki Lawson as CEO and rebranding to Storage King Group with a new ASX ticker SKG.

  • Internalisation process completed
  • Nikki Lawson appointed CEO and Managing Director
  • Company name changes to Storage King Group
  • ASX ticker updated to SKG
  • Registered office and contact details updated

Internalisation Finalised and Leadership Change

Abacus Storage King (ASX:ASK) has officially completed its internalisation, a process announced in May 2026 that transfers management control from Abacus Group to the company itself. This transition sees Steven Sewell, the former Abacus Group nominee director on the ASK board, step down, with Nikki Lawson stepping in as the new Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director effective 1 July 2026.

Rebranding and Ticker Update

Coinciding with the internalisation, the group will undergo a significant rebranding. The company name will change from Abacus Storage King to Storage King Group on 6 July 2026, alongside an ASX ticker update from ASK to SKG. This move is designed to signal a new chapter for the company under its internal management structure.

Related Entity Changes and Operational Updates

The internalisation also triggers name changes across related entities: Abacus Storage Property Trust becomes Storage King Property Trust, and the responsible entity transitions from Abacus Storage Funds Management Limited to Storage King Funds Management Limited. Additionally, Abacus Storage Operations Limited is scheduled to propose a name change to Storage King Operations Limited at the upcoming AGM in November 2026.

Operationally, the registered office for Storage King Operations Limited and Storage King Funds Management Limited has moved to Level 17, 99 Walker Street, North Sydney, NSW 2060, effective immediately. The company’s contact number has also changed to +61 2 9436 6200, and a new investor website has been launched at https://investors.storageking.com.au.

Governance and Communication Roles Updated

Alongside the CEO appointment, Lucy Spenceley has resigned as company secretary and been replaced by Belinda Cleminson, who will now serve as the primary ASX liaison for Listing Rule matters. These governance updates align with the company’s shift to internal management control and support the forthcoming operational changes.

Bottom Line?

Storage King Group’s internalisation and rebranding mark a pivotal reset, with Nikki Lawson’s leadership set to define its next phase.

Questions in the middle?

  • How will Nikki Lawson’s leadership influence Storage King’s strategic direction?
  • What market reaction will the rebranding and new ticker provoke among investors?
