High-Resolution Survey Reveals Hidden Structural Gold Target

PLC Resources Limited (ASX:PLC) has fundamentally reshaped its geological understanding of the Abbotts North Gold Project in Western Australia's Murchison region. A recently completed high-resolution airborne magnetic and radiometric survey has uncovered a large antiform fold structure along the eastern margin of the Abbotts Greenstone Belt that was previously invisible in regional geological maps and magnetic data.

This antiform's hinge intersects a deep-seated east-west crustal structure marked by a younger Proterozoic dyke; a structural configuration widely recognised across the Yilgarn Craton as a primary control on orogenic gold mineralisation. The discovery effectively defines a continuous, north-south trending structural corridor with over 8 km of strike on the eastern limb and more than 6 km on the western limb within PLC's tenure.

Untouched Exploration Ground Offers Rare Opportunity

Remarkably, the entire eastern margin of the Abbotts Greenstone Belt within PLC’s project area remains untested by any drilling or systematic soil sampling. The absence of prior exploration here is not due to lack of prospectivity but rather because the structural framework guiding targeting was unknown until now. This opens one of the most compelling greenfields exploration corridors in the Murchison gold district, a region known for high-grade deposits such as New Murchison Gold’s Crown Prince mine (2.2 Mt at 3.3 g/t Au) and the Lydia Prospect.

Executive Director Simon Phillips emphasised the scale of the opportunity, stating that greenfields exploration targets of this size and structural coherence under relatively shallow cover are rare in Western Australia. The company plans to rapidly advance ground reconnaissance, geological mapping, and drill targeting to capitalise on this newly identified corridor.

Rochefort Drilling Results to Inform Next Steps

Alongside the survey results, PLC recently completed its maiden reverse circulation (RC) drilling program at the Rochefort Gold Prospect, located near the northern margin of the belt and likely the northern extension of the antiform complex. Rochefort had previously delivered encouraging rock chip samples up to 11.7 g/t Au and a coherent gold-in-soil anomaly confirmed by UltraFine™ sampling beneath shallow cover.

The five-hole, 1,018-metre RC program was designed to test the structural setting beneath this anomaly. Assay results are expected within weeks and will provide critical insight into the mineralisation potential of the area. Regardless of these results, the airborne survey has independently unveiled a significant new exploration target that substantially expands PLC's drill inventory beyond Rochefort.

Survey Details and Technical Advances

The survey was conducted in June 2026 by MagSpec Airborne Surveys using a Cessna 206 equipped with a Geometrics G-823A caesium vapour magnetometer and RSI RS-500 gamma-ray spectrometer. Flying at 30 m terrain clearance with 50 m line spacing, the survey covered 4,536 line kilometres, delivering a substantial improvement in resolution over existing regional data. Processing included diurnal correction, IGRF removal, tie-line levelling, and spectral noise reduction, resulting in high-definition total magnetic intensity and first vertical derivative grids.

The enhanced data revealed lithological contacts and structural features with unprecedented clarity, enabling the identification of the antiform and associated crustal structures that had eluded previous surveys. Integration with adjacent open-file surveys also highlighted geological continuity with known gold occurrences south of the project.

Strategic Implications for PLC’s Exploration Pipeline

With this new structural corridor, PLC Resources is poised to significantly broaden its exploration footprint in the Murchison region. The company’s previous activities, including rock chip and soil sampling at Rochefort, have validated the district’s gold potential. The survey now provides a refined and structurally constrained search space that will guide systematic follow-up work.

PLC plans to undertake ground reconnaissance and mapping to assess soil sampling viability and, where cover is prohibitive, proceed directly to aircore drilling. The company regards the eastern margin corridor as one of the most significant opportunities in its portfolio and intends to move swiftly to unlock its potential.
