TechGen’s Blue Devil Project Set for Maiden Drilling with New High-Grade Copper-Gold Zones

Mining By Maxwell Dee 3 min read

TechGen Metals has completed all preparations for maiden drilling at its Blue Devil copper-gold project in WA, uncovering a new gossanous zone at Red Devil with high-grade assays pending.

  • Maiden drilling imminent at Blue Devil and Red Devil targets
  • New gossanous zone discovered at Red Devil with assays pending
  • Red Devil shows strong IP chargeability and high-grade surface copper-gold
  • Blue Devil hosts three strong airborne EM conductors over magnetic intrusion
  • All statutory approvals and infrastructure completed for drilling

Maiden Drilling Ready to Unlock Kimberley Copper-Gold Potential

TechGen Metals Limited (ASX:TG1) is poised to kick off its maiden drilling campaign at the Blue Devil copper-gold project in East Kimberley, Western Australia. The company has cleared every hurdle, from statutory approvals to heritage clearances and access track construction, setting the stage for the first-ever drill tests of the Blue Devil and Red Devil targets. This marks a major milestone at a project that has never been drill-tested despite showing compelling geophysical and geochemical signatures.

New Gossan Discovery Boosts Red Devil Prospect

Late June fieldwork uncovered a previously unknown iron and quartz-rich gossanous zone trending northwest-southeast at the Red Devil prospect. This new zone runs parallel to existing copper-rich outcrops and sits directly above a high-intensity Induced Polarisation (IP) chargeability anomaly. The IP survey reveals a core zone with chargeability values between 30 and 35mV/V, more than three times background levels, extending roughly 175-225 metres below surface with a vertical thickness of about 300 metres. Sixteen rock chip samples from this new gossan zone are currently at the laboratory, with assays expected imminently. Historic and recent surface rock chips at Red Devil have already returned exceptional grades, including up to 52.3% copper and 5.35 grams per tonne gold.

Blue Devil Target Shows Large-Scale Geophysical Anomalies

The Blue Devil target boasts three discrete airborne electromagnetic (EM) conductors extending over 2.75 kilometres, positioned approximately 150 metres above an interpreted magnetic intrusive body. This geophysical signature aligns with anomalous soil and stream sediment geochemistry, suggesting the potential for a significant copper-gold mineral system. TechGen is targeting multiple intrusion-related mineralisation styles here, including porphyry copper-gold, iron oxide copper-gold (IOCG), and skarn deposits. The scale and strength of these anomalies make Blue Devil the company’s priority target.

Drilling Preparations and Next Steps

With the Programme of Work approved and heritage surveys completed, TechGen is currently in discussions with Kimberley-based drilling contractors to mobilise for the maiden drilling campaign. The company anticipates news flow in the near term from contractor mobilisation, drilling commencement, and assay results from both Blue Devil and Red Devil drill holes. The project’s 195 square kilometres of exploration licences, 100% owned by TechGen, cover highly prospective ground in the Halls Creek Orogen, a region known for large-scale copper and gold mineralisation.

Strategic Implications for TechGen

TechGen’s maiden drilling campaign at Blue Devil follows an oversubscribed A$2.7 million placement in June aimed at fast-tracking exploration activities. The project’s combination of strong geophysical targets and high-grade surface assays positions it well to attract investor attention in a competitive copper-gold exploration sector. While assay results from the new gossan zone and drilling remain pending, the groundwork laid by TechGen sets a solid foundation for potential discovery in a historically underexplored region.

Bottom Line?

TechGen’s imminent maiden drilling at Blue Devil and Red Devil could unlock significant copper-gold mineralisation, but assay results will be critical to validate these high-potential targets.

Questions in the middle?

  • Will the maiden drilling confirm the scale and grade suggested by geophysical and surface sampling data?
  • How will assay results from the newly discovered Red Devil gossan zone influence TechGen’s exploration strategy?
  • What impact might successful drilling at Blue Devil have on TechGen’s valuation and future funding?
