Record Channel Sampling Highlights Scale and Grade
OD6 Metals (ASX:OD6) has delivered a striking update from its Horseshoe Prospect within the Quinn Fluorspar Project in Nevada, reporting channel sampling intercepts that confirm a large, high-grade fluorspar system starting right at surface. The standout result is a 50-metre interval grading 63.9% CaF2 from the southeast wall of the historic pit; the thickest mineralised interval recorded to date.
Other impressive intercepts include 27 metres at 54.4% CaF2 in the north pit and a combined 22 metres at 70.7% CaF2 on the northwest wall, featuring individual runs as high as 74.9% CaF2. The central bench also showed 15 metres at 75.8% CaF2. Across all 118 channel samples, the average grade was a robust 64.4% CaF2, with 84% of samples exceeding 50% CaF2, underscoring the deposit’s exceptional consistency and scale.
Near-Surface Mineralisation Supports Open Pit Potential
Managing Director Brett Hazelden emphasised that Horseshoe is far from a typical narrow vein deposit. Instead, it represents a broad replacement zone amenable to modern open pit mining methods. The combination of near-surface exposure, significant widths of mineralisation up to 60 metres, and high grades positions OD6 to explore early-stage development opportunities, including Metspar production; a direct shipping fluorspar product; while advancing metallurgical work towards premium Acidspar specifications.
With mineralisation remaining open both up-dip beneath a silicified cap and down-dip under talus cover, the project holds substantial upside for resource expansion. The geological setting within the Great Basin’s Paleozoic limestones and dolomites, altered by epithermal activity, further supports the prospectivity of the Quinn Project.
Strategic Timing as US Seeks Domestic Fluorspar Supply
The Quinn Fluorspar Project’s location in Nevada, ranked second globally in mining attractiveness, adds geopolitical weight to the discovery. The United States currently imports 100% of its fluorspar, a critical mineral essential for hydrofluoric acid, AI semiconductor manufacturing, advanced batteries, nuclear fuels, and defence technologies. OD6’s emerging deposit could play a meaningful role in reducing US reliance on imports, particularly from China, which supplies over 60% of global fluorspar.
OD6’s recent land acquisitions and claim staking have expanded its footprint to 226 mining claims, positioning it to develop a district-scale fluorspar operation. The company is advancing shareholder approval for the Quinn acquisition, pending assay results, drill permitting, and metallurgical testwork programs to refine development pathways.

OD6 plans to complete geological modelling and drill targeting, integrate permitting activities, lodge bulk sample permit applications, and commence metallurgical testwork. A maiden drilling program is also on the horizon, aiming to convert these encouraging channel sampling results into a formal resource estimate.
While channel sampling provides a representative measure of grade over continuous intervals, the absence of drilling data means a mineral resource estimate is not yet possible. However, the scale and grade continuity revealed so far provide a compelling foundation for advancing the project.
