Record-Breaking Portfolio Performance

WAM Active (ASX:WAA) has reported an extraordinary 75.5% return on its investment portfolio for the 12 months ending 30 June 2026, marking a new record for the listed investment company. This performance dwarfs the S&P/ASX All Ordinaries Accumulation Index, which returned just 5.7% over the same period, and the Bloomberg AusBond Bank Bill Index at 3.9%. Since inception in January 2008, WAM Active’s portfolio has delivered an annualised 14.4%, outperforming cash and market benchmarks by a significant margin.

Dividend Increases and Special Payouts

Alongside its standout investment returns, WAM Active announced a fully franked full year dividend of 6.4 cents per share for FY2026, an increase from previous years. In addition, shareholders will receive special fully franked dividends totalling 3.0 cents per share, split between an interim payment already made and a final special dividend payable in December. Including these special dividends, the grossed-up dividend yield reaches an attractive 12.3%, underscoring the company’s commitment to delivering regular income streams.

Capital Raise Fuels Growth and Liquidity

Earlier this year, WAM Active completed a heavily oversubscribed 2-for-3 pro-rata entitlement offer, raising $70.7 million inclusive of shortfall and placement components. The funds have been swiftly deployed into new investment opportunities that contributed to the record portfolio gains. The enlarged capital base has also improved share liquidity and market relevance, enhancing appeal among financial planners and expanding access to market opportunities for shareholders.

Dividend Reinvestment Plan Maintains Flexibility

The company’s Dividend Reinvestment Plan (DRP) remains in operation without a discount, allowing shareholders to reinvest dividends at the volume weighted average price over four trading days commencing on the ex-dividend date. This approach supports shareholder flexibility while maintaining fairness in pricing. The DRP applies to both the fully franked final dividend and the special dividend announced for FY2026.

Portfolio Composition and Investment Strategy

WAM Active’s portfolio continues to focus on an active trading style with a low correlation to traditional markets, aiming for positive returns with low volatility and capital preservation. Top holdings include Lindian Resources, Echo IQ, Forrestania Resources, and Solstice Minerals, reflecting a diversified exposure to Australian equities. The company’s strategy has consistently delivered strong outperformance over multiple time horizons, supported by Wilson Asset Management’s 29 years of investment expertise.

Bottom Line?

WAM Active’s exceptional FY2026 results set a high bar, but sustaining such outperformance and dividend growth will require navigating evolving market conditions and maintaining disciplined capital deployment.
