Mammoth Minerals Uncovers Bonanza-Grade Metals at Imperial Prospect Ahead of Drilling

Mining By Maxwell Dee 3 min read

Mammoth Minerals delivers exceptional high-grade gold, silver, and copper rock chip results from the Imperial prospect, significantly expanding drill targets at its Excelsior Springs Project in Nevada.

  • Bonanza-grade assays up to 15,336g/t silver at Imperial
  • High-grade gold and copper results confirm extensive mineralisation
  • RC drilling campaign imminent targeting Blue Dick, Imperial, and Railroad
  • Maiden JORC resource for Buster zone expected this quarter
  • Excelsior Springs mineral system likened to Tonopah West Silver Project

Bonanza-Grade Rock Chip Results Expand Imperial Prospect

Mammoth Minerals (ASX:M79) has revealed a striking suite of high-grade gold, silver, copper, and base metal assays from rock chip and grab samples at its Imperial prospect within the Excelsior Springs Project in Nevada. The standout assay returned a staggering 15,336g/t silver alongside 7.46g/t gold and 2.53% copper, confirming the presence of bonanza-grade mineralisation well beyond historical workings.

Additional notable gold-dominant results include 22.1g/t Au with 8.4g/t Ag and copper-rich samples exceeding 15% Cu, underscoring the polymetallic nature of the system. These findings significantly enhance Mammoth’s understanding of the Imperial mineral system and have generated multiple high-priority drill targets ahead of the planned Reverse Circulation (RC) drilling campaign.

Upcoming RC Drilling to Target Multiple High-Grade Zones

Site preparations are underway for what Mammoth describes as a high-impact RC drill program targeting extensions of the Imperial mine, the Railroad target, and the Buster Trend anomalies. The drill rig is expected to arrive imminently, with drilling focused on testing the newly identified high-grade polymetallic zones and structural hosts along strike.

The Blue Dick prospect, already known for exceptional surface grades, remains a key focus. Recent channel sampling there yielded results such as 0.2m at 17,582g/t Ag and 0.75g/t Au, highlighting over 6km of prospective strike defined by surface outcrops and historical workings. This upcoming campaign aims to unlock the potential of these zones and validate the scale of mineralisation across the Excelsior Springs tenure.

Maiden JORC Resource and Strategic Comparisons

Mammoth is progressing towards releasing its maiden JORC Mineral Resource for the Buster Mine zone later this quarter, a milestone that could materially enhance the project’s valuation. Managing Director Glenn Poole drew parallels between the Excelsior Springs system and the nearby Tonopah West Silver Project, which hosts an 8.29Mt resource grading 462g/t silver equivalent and is under development by Blackrock Silver (TSX-V: BRC).

Poole emphasised the consistency of high-grade results across the sampled areas and the robust pipeline of drill-ready targets generated from recent prospecting. The company’s expanding landholding and ongoing exploration activities across the Walker Lane tectonic zone position Mammoth to capitalize on this prolific precious metals corridor.

Historical Context and Exploration Progress

Excelsior Springs spans 135km2 in Nevada and comprises multiple patented and unpatented claims optioned from Athena Gold Corp. Historical exploration and mining date back over a century, but modern methods and systematic drilling have only recently begun to unlock the project’s potential. Mammoth’s recent sampling builds on prior drilling that returned significant gold intercepts adjacent to the Imperial shear zone, including 28.96m at 2.23g/t Au and 13.72m at 4.74g/t Au.

The company’s systematic approach combines rock chip sampling, geophysical surveys, and geochemical analysis to delineate targets for follow-up drilling. The upcoming RC program will be a critical test of these targets, with potential to materially advance the project’s resource base.

Bottom Line?

Mammoth’s bonanza-grade surface results at Imperial set the stage for a pivotal drilling campaign that could redefine the scale of its Nevada portfolio.

Questions in the middle?

  • Will upcoming RC drilling confirm continuity and true widths of the high-grade mineralisation at Imperial and Blue Dick?
  • How will the maiden JORC resource at Buster influence Mammoth’s development strategy and capital allocation?
  • Can Mammoth replicate or exceed the scale of nearby Tonopah West Silver’s mineral system within Excelsior Springs?
