Belararox Unveils New Copper Targets and Awards Drilling Contract at Kalahari Project
Belararox, soon to be Vantage Metals, has sharpened its exploration focus at Botswana’s Kalahari Copper Project with new airborne electromagnetic data revealing additional copper targets. The company has locked in a drilling contractor and plans to start drilling imminently.
- New AEM data highlights multiple copper targets at KCP
- Drilling contract awarded to Rots Drill Exploration
- Ionic soil sampling underway with results expected in six weeks
- Strong geological continuity with nearby Khoemacau and Motheo copper districts
- Company rebrands to Vantage Metals effective 17 July 2026
Expanded Targets Emerge from Airborne Electromagnetic Survey
Belararox Limited (ASX:BRX), on the cusp of rebranding as Vantage Metals (ASX:VAN), has unveiled a fresh suite of copper targets at its Kalahari Copper Project (KCP) in Botswana, following a detailed interpretation of newly acquired airborne electromagnetic (AEM) data. This latest geophysical work extends the continuity of the prospective geological contact that hosts copper mineralisation in the region, linking it with the prolific Motheo and Khoemacau mining districts operated by Sandfire Resources and MMG respectively.
The KCP, covering around 3,900 square kilometres, lies strategically adjacent to MMG’s Khoemacau hub, which is expanding its annual copper output from approximately 50,000 tonnes to 130,000 tonnes. The enhanced AEM data processing has refined the geological model, spotlighting several high-priority drill targets at drillable depths along the Ngwako Pan and D’Kar formation contact, a known redox boundary favourable for sediment-hosted copper-silver deposits.
Drilling Contract Secured; Operations to Commence Soon
In a significant operational step, Belararox has awarded the initial drilling contract to Rots Drill Exploration, a local affiliate of Major Drilling. This partnership grants the company access to robust technical expertise and operational support, substantially mitigating execution risks common in early-stage exploration. The rig is expected to mobilise within two weeks, marking the start of the first drilling campaign focused on the highly prospective northeastern tenements PL0773 and PL2743.
Chief Executive Officer Will Dix emphasised the company’s excitement about the drilling program, stating, "We have a large number of high-quality targets to drill test within the KCP. We are now focused on getting the drill rig to site and kicking off our initial drilling program."
Ionic Soil Sampling to Complement Drilling
Complementing the geophysical work, Belararox has completed an initial ionic soil geochemical sampling program over selected areas within PL0773 and PL2743, with results anticipated in about six weeks. Given the extensive Kalahari sand cover, which can mask traditional soil geochemistry, ionic leach sampling was chosen for its ability to detect mobile ions migrating from buried mineralised systems. The company plans to expand this surface geochemical work before the end of July to build a comprehensive geochemical database across interpreted prospective horizons.
Corporate Rebranding Signals Strategic Reset
At the recent Extraordinary General Meeting, shareholders approved the company’s name change to Vantage Metals, effective 17 July 2026. This rebranding marks what CEO Dix described as "the start of a new book for the Company, not just a new chapter," reflecting a full strategic reset and a renewed focus on copper exploration in Botswana and Argentina.
Update on Argentine TMT Project
Meanwhile, Belararox provided a brief update on its TMT Project in Argentina, noting that the final drilling results from Toro Central have been received. While the recent holes did not replicate the standout high-grade silver interval previously reported, the company continues to refine its structural understanding to guide future exploration. No new significant results were reported in this announcement.
Bottom Line?
As Vantage Metals prepares to drill multiple new copper targets in Botswana, the coming weeks will be critical to validate the promising geophysical signals and soil geochemistry with actual drill results.
Questions in the middle?
- Will the upcoming drilling confirm the interpreted continuity of copper mineralisation along the Ngwako Pan-D’Kar contact?
- How might the expanded ionic soil sampling influence the prioritisation of drill targets across the KCP?
- What strategic moves will Vantage Metals pursue following the name change and initial drilling outcomes?
