First-Hand Geological Confirmation of Tungsten Skarn System

Perpetual Resources (ASX:PEC) has taken a significant step in its Nevada Scheelite Tungsten Project acquisition by completing its maiden site visit to the historic mine in Mineral County, Nevada. This boots-on-the-ground inspection marks the company's first direct technical assessment since entering a binding agreement to acquire the asset in June 2026.

The visit validated the presence of a classic intrusive-related tungsten skarn system at surface, with visible garnet-pyroxene skarn alteration and a mappable skarn-limestone contact trending broadly north-south. Structural measurements showed a subvertical to steeply east-dipping orientation consistent with the historical mine development, reinforcing the geological model underpinning the project.

Historical Infrastructure Remains Intact and Accessible

Rock Chip Sampling and Pending Assay Results

Perpetual collected six first-pass rock chip samples across two key outcrop zones along the skarn-limestone contact. These samples, targeting garnet-pyroxene skarn, limestone, granite, and epidote-bearing alteration, have been submitted to American Assay Laboratories in Reno for multi-element ICP analysis, including tungsten, molybdenum, and bismuth. A sodium peroxide fusion digest was requested to ensure accurate quantification of scheelite-hosted tungsten. Results are pending and will be reported upon receipt.

Building a Modern Geological Framework

Following the site visit, Perpetual outlined a comprehensive technical program focused on digitising and validating over 400 historical drill holes, cataloguing preserved diamond drill core, and constructing a modern 3D geological model. These efforts aim to reconcile historical data with new observations and identify priority targets for confirmatory drilling and modern geochemical programs.

Executive Chairman Julian Babarczy highlighted the importance of the site visit, noting it provides direct technical confirmation of key project features and a strong foundation for advancing the geological understanding. The alignment between surface structural geometry and historical underground development adds confidence to the continuity of the mineralised skarn system at depth.

Next Steps in Advancing Nevada Scheelite

Perpetual’s immediate focus will be on interpreting assay results from the rock chip samples, compiling and validating the historical drilling database, and progressing 3D modelling. The company plans to leverage these insights to refine exploration targets and prepare for drilling campaigns designed to confirm and expand on historical tungsten mineralisation.

While assay results remain awaited, this maiden site visit and technical assessment represent a critical milestone in unlocking the potential of the Nevada Scheelite Tungsten Project, a brownfields asset with extensive historical production and data. The coming months will be pivotal in translating these early observations into a modern resource framework.

Bottom Line?

Pending assay results and 3D modelling will be key to defining the project's next exploration priorities.

Questions in the middle?

  • Will the pending assays confirm economically significant tungsten grades at surface?
  • How will the historical drilling data integrate with new geological models to refine targets?
