Juanita Prospect Emerges as Major New Silver-Gold Target
Andean Silver Limited (ASX:ASL) has unveiled a striking new exploration frontier at its Cerro Bayo Project in Chile with the discovery of the Juanita Prospect. Surface sampling has returned extraordinary bonanza-grade assays, including a standout 62,663 grams per tonne (g/t) silver equivalent (AgEq), combining 25,047g/t silver and 453.2g/t gold. This high-grade breccia system stretches over an initial 2-kilometre strike length and is situated outside the company's existing 136 million ounce (Moz) silver equivalent resource.
The Juanita mineralisation diverges from the vein-style deposits typical of Cerro Bayo, featuring a breccia-hosted silver-gold system shaped by multiple structural and mineralising events. The prospect's geology, characterised by repeated fault reactivation and mineral pulses within favourable volcanic host rocks, hints at a potentially large and significant mineralised system rather than isolated veins.
Historical Drilling Sparse and Incomplete
Andean’s recent geological mapping and rock chip sampling have begun to fill this gap, confirming multiple mineralising events and breccia zones up to 18 metres wide. The company is now advancing detailed geological mapping and sawn channel sampling along the Juanita trend to better delineate the mineralisation ahead of planned drill testing.
Strategic Positioning and Funding for Growth
The Juanita Prospect lies about 6 kilometres east of the Laguna Verde processing facility, within a structurally significant corridor that hosts other major deposits across Cerro Bayo. With total resources at Cerro Bayo recently updated to 136Moz AgEq, Andean Silver is well positioned to leverage Juanita as a third large exploration area alongside the Guanaco and Droughtmaster corridors, expanding its project pipeline.
Financially, Andean reported a robust cash position of A$53.4 million at the end of the March quarter, underpinning its aggressive exploration and feasibility plans. The company intends to escalate drilling activity, potentially increasing its current four-rig fleet to accelerate resource growth and feasibility studies aimed at a production restart.

Over the next 12 months, Andean plans a dual approach: continuing exploration to grow resources at brownfields targets and greenfields projects, while advancing feasibility-level work including infill drilling, metallurgical studies, and geotechnical assessments.
