Diablo Resources Extends Utah Mineral Anomalies Ahead of Maiden Drilling

Mining By Maxwell Dee 3 min read

Diablo Resources has expanded key silver-antimony and copper anomalies at its Star Range Project in Utah, setting the stage for imminent maiden diamond drilling and advancing its Horn Silver acquisition.

  • South Star silver-antimony anomaly extended over 3,000m
  • East Star copper-in-soil anomaly identified over 400m
  • Maiden diamond drilling at North Star to start soon
  • $3.5 million placement completed for exploration
  • Horn Silver Project acquisition progressing as planned

Significant Expansion of Mineral Anomalies at Star Range

Diablo Resources (ASX:DBO) has revealed a substantial extension of its silver-antimony anomaly at the South Star Prospect in Utah, now stretching beyond 3,000 metres after a 1,400-metre northeastward extension. This broadening of the anomaly marks a major step in validating the company's interpretation of a zoned polymetallic system across the Star Range Project.

Simultaneously, first-pass soil sampling at the East Star Prospect has uncovered a coherent copper-in-soil anomaly approximately 400 metres long and 200 metres wide. This copper anomaly aligns with historical workings and rock chip samples that previously returned high-grade copper assays up to 7.39% Cu, underscoring the prospect's potential as a copper-skarn system.

Drilling and Exploration Momentum Builds

With these geochemical results expanding the exploration pipeline beyond the North Star Prospect, Diablo is preparing to commence its maiden diamond drilling program at North Star within weeks. The drilling will test high-grade silver, antimony, and copper targets identified by previous geophysical surveys and surface sampling, aiming to confirm the subsurface extent of mineralisation.

The company recently completed a $3.5 million placement to fund this drilling-led phase, signalling a clear commitment to advancing its Utah portfolio. This capital injection supports ongoing soil sampling, infill and extension mapping, and structural interpretation to refine drill targets across South Star and East Star.

Horn Silver Acquisition Nears Completion

Adding to its strategic momentum, Diablo is progressing the acquisition of an 80% interest in the Horn Silver Project, a historically prolific silver and gold mining district near Milford, Utah. The Horn Silver mine produced an estimated 17 million ounces of silver and significant gold and copper before closing in the mid-20th century.

The acquisition, approved by shareholders earlier this month, promises to augment Diablo’s pipeline with near-mine and regional exploration targets. The company plans to integrate recent geochemical data with geological and geophysical datasets at Horn Silver to prioritise drill targets and advance exploration.

Strategic Outlook for Utah Critical Minerals

Diablo’s exploration strategy focuses on building a robust pipeline of critical mineral targets across its Utah holdings. The recent soil sampling program, which collected 73 samples on a 200m by 100m grid, has proven effective in delineating broad mineralised trends and identifying new zones for follow-up.

Future work includes additional infill soil sampling, detailed geological mapping, and rock chip sampling to sharpen structural interpretations and drill planning. As the maiden North Star drilling campaign looms, the market will be watching closely for results that could unlock further value in this polymetallic system.

Bottom Line?

Diablo is poised to transform its expanded surface anomalies into drill-defined resources, with North Star drilling and Horn Silver acquisition as key upcoming catalysts.

Questions in the middle?

  • Will maiden drilling at North Star confirm the extent of polymetallic mineralisation?
  • How will the Horn Silver acquisition impact Diablo’s exploration strategy and resource base?
  • Can follow-up soil and mapping work at South and East Star refine high-priority drill targets?
