KalGold Advances Pinjin Drilling and Acquires Central Yandal Gold Project

Mining By Maxwell Dee 4 min read

Kalgoorlie Gold Mining (ASX: KAL) completed a major RC drilling campaign at its Pinjin Gold Project with assays pending, launched a large aircore program at a new LTZ Flexure target, and acquired the Central Yandal Gold Project, expanding its footprint in Western Australia’s prolific gold belts.

  • 21-hole RC drill program completed at Kirgella Gift and Providence
  • First-pass aircore drilling underway at LTZ Flexure greenfields target
  • Acquisition of 15 tenements in Central Yandal Gold Project
  • Total JORC Inferred Mineral Resource steady at 214,300 ounces
  • Strong balance sheet with $1.82 million cash and no debt

Pinjin Drilling Wraps Up with Assays Pending

Kalgoorlie Gold Mining has just completed its largest reverse circulation (RC) drilling campaign at the Pinjin Gold Project, delivering 21 holes totalling 3,702 metres focused on extending known gold mineralisation at the Kirgella Gift and Providence deposits. Several drill holes were pushed deeper than planned after intersecting promising lithologies and alteration zones, signalling potential for resource growth. However, assay results remain pending due to longer-than-expected laboratory turnaround times, leaving investors awaiting the key data that will clarify the extent of mineralisation expansion.

This drilling program was designed to fill critical data gaps and test strike extensions north of Kirgella Gift, as well as the area between the two deposits. The results will feed into a future resource update, potentially reshaping the resource base at Pinjin.

New Exploration Front at LTZ Flexure

In parallel with completing the RC program, KalGold initiated a substantial first-pass aircore drilling program targeting the LTZ Flexure, a previously untested bend in the Laverton Tectonic Zone located about 3.5 kilometres southeast of Kirgella Gift and Providence. The program plans up to 225 holes over 10,750 metres across 12 drill lines, aiming to detect near-surface gold anomalism for follow-up RC drilling.

Heritage clearance was secured in cooperation with the Kakarra people, enabling this greenfields exploration push into a structurally complex zone that hosts multiple geophysical targets. This low-cost reconnaissance approach mirrors the strategy that led to the earlier Lighthorse gold discovery, suggesting the company is applying proven methods to unlock new mineralisation.

Central Yandal Acquisition Broadens Portfolio

KalGold expanded its footprint with the acquisition of the Central Yandal Gold Project, comprising 15 tenements covering 23.7 square kilometres in the heart of the Yandal Greenstone Belt. This region is home to some of Western Australia's richest gold deposits, including Northern Star Resources’ Jundee mine and the historic Bronzewing mine.

The tenure lies immediately southeast of the historic Gourdis and Vause gold mines and close to Northern Star’s Ramone underground operation. The acquisition was made through a disciplined, low-cost strategy of pegging expiring tenure, offering a strategic foothold in a world-class gold province without significant capital outlay. Historical drilling in the area is sparse and shallow, highlighting the project's greenfields potential.

Resource Base and Financial Position

KalGold’s total JORC Code (2012) Inferred Mineral Resource remains steady at 214,300 ounces, split between the Bulong Taurus Project (137,900 oz) and Pinjin (76,400 oz). Both projects feature near-surface, potentially open-pittable gold mineralisation with grades exceeding 1.0 g/t Au in key zones.

The company ended the quarter with a solid balance sheet, holding $1.82 million in cash and no debt. Exploration and evaluation expenditure for the quarter was $929,000, reflecting ongoing investment in the Pinjin drilling programs, LTZ Flexure aircore campaign, and the Central Yandal acquisition.

Upcoming Catalysts and Exploration Pipeline

Looking ahead, the market awaits assay results from the Kirgella Gift and Providence RC drilling, which will be pivotal in assessing resource growth potential. Further RC drilling is planned at Lighthorse, where previous results included a standout 17 metres at 4.81 g/t Au, extending mineralisation over 1.45 kilometres of strike. Diamond drilling beneath Kirgella Gift–Providence is also scheduled to test deeper primary gold mineralisation, which could support a resource upgrade.

Additional aircore programs are being planned to test strike extensions near Ramelius Resources’ Rebecca Gold Project, expanding KalGold’s exploration footprint in the Laverton Tectonic Zone. The company’s methodical, low-cost approach to tenure acquisition and exploration continues to underpin its growth strategy.

Bottom Line?

KalGold’s aggressive drilling and strategic acquisition set the stage for potential resource upgrades, but assay results will be the next critical milestone to watch.

Questions in the middle?

  • Will pending assays confirm extensions to the Kirgella Gift–Providence mineralisation?
  • Can the LTZ Flexure aircore program unlock a new gold discovery akin to Lighthorse?
  • How will the Central Yandal acquisition contribute to KalGold’s growth amid limited historical drilling?
