Kali Metals Uncovers New High-Grade Gold Zones at Marble Bar

Mining By Maxwell Dee 4 min read

Kali Metals has identified multiple new high-grade gold prospects at its Marble Bar Project, with rock-chip samples hitting up to 53.1 g/t Au and soil sampling revealing extensive gold-in-soil anomalies over previously untested ground.

  • Rock-chip assays up to 53.1 g/t Au at Stug prospect
  • New gold-in-soil anomalies extend over 6.5 km in untested tenement
  • Final drilling results from Tiger, Sherman, Churchill due in weeks
  • Exploration pipeline expanded with four new prospects identified
  • High-resolution drone and hyperspectral surveys underway

Stug Prospect Delivers Exceptional Surface Gold Grades

Kali Metals Limited (ASX:KM1) has revealed a fresh wave of high-grade gold mineralisation at its Marble Bar Gold Project in Western Australia’s Pilbara region. The standout is the Stug Gold Prospect, where rock-chip sampling returned grades soaring up to 53.1 grams per tonne (g/t) gold. This discovery spotlights a 200-metre-long quartz vein system with strong potassic alteration, marking it as a prime candidate for further exploration.

Alongside Stug, the company’s field teams uncovered three additional new prospects, Vickers, Pershing, and Chiha, with assays ranging from 0.9 g/t to 5.9 g/t Au. These results extend the known surface gold footprint and bolster the project’s exploration pipeline.

Soil Sampling Uncovers Large Untested Gold Anomalies

Complementing the rock-chip success, Kali Metals conducted an extensive soil sampling campaign across newly acquired tenements (E45/6389, E45/6429, and E45/6430). Over 1,200 samples delineated gold-in-soil anomalies peaking at 0.434 g/t Au, including a substantial 6.5-kilometre-long east-west trending anomaly on tenement E45/6430, an area with no prior drilling history.

This anomaly is particularly intriguing as its western segment lies within greenstone units of the Warrawoona Package, the same geological setting that hosts the nearby Klondyke gold deposit. Kali Metals plans to prioritise this zone for follow-up mapping and reconnaissance sampling, aiming to unlock its potential.

Existing Prospects Strengthened Ahead of Drilling Results

Further rock-chip sampling has reinforced the significance of existing targets, with Sherman’s south-east extension delivering 8.8 g/t Au and Churchill’s new eastern zone returning 4.7 g/t Au. Tiger 2 prospect also showed sporadic altered rocks with assays up to 1.7 g/t Au. These findings dovetail with Kali’s ongoing drilling program, with final diamond and reverse circulation drilling results expected within 3 to 4 weeks, potentially confirming the continuity of mineralisation down dip and at depth.

These drilling efforts build on earlier Phase II results that confirmed deeper gold extensions at Tiger 2, enhancing the project’s resource growth prospects.

Advancing Exploration with New Technologies and Mapping

To augment its geological understanding, Kali Metals has acquired an additional 12 square kilometres of high-resolution drone imagery at 2cm resolution and plans a high-resolution hyperspectral survey across its Pilbara tenements. These technologies will aid in refining structural and alteration mapping, crucial for targeting mineralisation.

Meanwhile, the company intends to extend geological mapping and rock-chip sampling at the new prospects and initiate reconnaissance over the promising soil anomalies, particularly on the untested E45/6430 tenement. Heritage surveys and drilling preparations are also scheduled at other lithium and tin-tungsten targets within its portfolio, demonstrating a diversified exploration approach.

Project Geology and Exploration Context

The Marble Bar Project covers 118 square kilometres east of the township of Marble Bar, predominantly underlain by Archean granitic and gneissic rocks of the Mount Edgar Granitic Complex. Gold mineralisation is spatially associated with quartz veining and potassic alteration within felsic intrusives, consistent with orogenic gold systems typical of the region.

Kali Metals holds 100% ownership of all tenements, with no known impediments to exploration. The company’s recent acquisitions and exploration activities position Marble Bar as a growing focus within its broader portfolio, which spans over 4,000 square kilometres across Western Australia and the Lachlan Fold Belt.

Bottom Line?

Kali Metals’ high-grade surface gold results and newly defined soil anomalies at Marble Bar set the stage for a critical drilling update, with the potential to significantly advance the project’s exploration status.

Questions in the middle?

  • Will the upcoming drilling results confirm the continuity of high-grade gold at new and existing prospects?
  • How extensive and economically viable are the gold-in-soil anomalies on the previously untested tenement E45/6430?
  • What impact will the hyperspectral survey and drone imagery have on refining Kali Metals’ exploration targeting in the Pilbara?
