Novo Resources Confirms Robust Mineralisation at Wyloo and Expands IOCG Targets at Toolunga

Mining By Maxwell Dee 4 min read

Novo Resources has validated a significant hydrothermal system at its Wyloo Polymetallic Project through maiden drilling and identified new IOCG-style targets at Toolunga, broadening its exploration pipeline in Western Australia.

  • Maiden RC drilling at Wyloo SE confirms high-grade silver and antimony near surface
  • Vera prospect reveals extensive antimony-arsenic soil anomaly
  • Kavira prospect shows large antimony stream anomaly with heritage survey planned
  • Toolunga Copper-Gold Project expanded to 2,242 km2 with three high-priority IOCG targets
  • Drilling completed at Cronus with assays pending; heritage access negotiations ongoing at Teichman

Maiden Drilling Unveils Promising Mineralisation at Wyloo

Novo Resources Corp (ASX:NVO) has delivered a compelling validation of its Wyloo Polymetallic Project’s potential with maiden reverse circulation (RC) drilling at the Wyloo SE prospect. Sixteen holes totalling 2,615 metres revealed a significant hydrothermal alteration system, including standout intercepts of 9 metres at 92 g/t silver and 1,280 ppm antimony from surface, highlighted by a 1-metre interval with 460 g/t silver and 1,425 ppm antimony. These surface-proximal grades underscore the prospect's early-stage promise and expand the footprint of mineralisation well beyond previous drilling extents.

Complementing the drilling, soil and rock chip sampling at the nearby Vera prospect uncovered a broad 260-metre-wide by 600-metre-long antimony-arsenic anomaly, with soil assays peaking at 803 ppm antimony and 1,265 ppm arsenic, while rock chips returned up to 3.5% antimony and notable base metals including zinc and lead. This extensive geochemical halo suggests a much larger system than initially delineated, warranting further ground exploration and drilling.

Kavira Prospect Emerges as Priority Target with Planned Heritage Survey

The Kavira prospect, part of the Wyloo tenement, has attracted increased attention following the identification of a coherent 2.5 km by 800 m high-order antimony stream sediment anomaly. The area is largely concealed beneath transported cover, complicating exploration but also hinting at undiscovered mineralisation at depth. Novo plans a heritage survey in the second half of 2026 to facilitate drilling under cover, aiming to test bedrock sources of the anomaly and advance Kavira as a key focus within its polymetallic portfolio.

Strategic Expansion and Targeting at Toolunga Copper-Gold Project

In parallel with Wyloo developments, Novo has significantly expanded its Toolunga Copper-Gold Project in the Onslow District, increasing its landholding from 1,520 to 2,242 square kilometres. This consolidation includes nine fully owned tenements and four under a farm-in agreement, positioning Novo to explore a highly prospective district at the intersection of major tectonic boundaries.

Reprocessed geophysical data and historic drilling have highlighted three high-priority coincident magnetic and gravity anomalies with characteristics typical of Iron Oxide Copper Gold (IOCG) systems; known for hosting large deposits. The Lobster prospect, previously drilled shallowly in the 1990s by WMC Resources with copper intercepts including 2 metres at 0.3% Cu, remains a key target. Newly identified targets Ironstone Bore and Mount Minnie offer fresh ground for exploration, with Mount Minnie showing encouraging rock chip copper grades up to 755 ppm. Ground gravity surveys and further sampling are planned post-tenement grant to refine drill targets.

Progress at Cronus and Teichman Prospects

Drilling at the Cronus prospect near Karratha has wrapped up with 23 RC holes completed, targeting extensions of the Titan Shear Zone known for orogenic gold mineralisation. Assays for seven holes are awaited, with results expected imminently to guide further work. Meanwhile, Novo is in the final stages of securing heritage access agreements for the Teichman Gold Project within the Yanderayrra Aboriginal Reserve. Once approved, a ~2,000 metre RC drilling program is planned for Q4 2026 to test multiple high-grade gold prospects characterised by complex structures and exceptional rock chip assays reaching up to 77.5 g/t gold.

Building a Diverse Australian Exploration Portfolio

These developments at Wyloo, Toolunga, Cronus, and Teichman reinforce Novo’s strategy of systematically advancing a diversified portfolio of gold, copper, and polymetallic projects across Tier-1 Australian jurisdictions. The company’s disciplined project generation approach, supported by a strong leadership team and strategic investments such as its holding in San Cristobal Mining, underpins a growing pipeline of exploration opportunities. While early-stage, the consistent and high-quality results at Wyloo and the identification of robust IOCG targets at Toolunga signal potential for substantial resource growth.

Investors should note that assay results for several Cronus drill holes remain pending, and heritage access approvals at Teichman are yet to be finalised, factors that may influence exploration timelines. Additionally, historic data quality at Toolunga is uncertain, necessitating further validation through modern exploration methods.

Bottom Line?

Novo’s maiden drilling success at Wyloo and strategic expansion at Toolunga signal growing momentum in its Australian exploration pipeline, but key assay results and heritage approvals remain critical upcoming milestones.

Questions in the middle?

  • How will pending assay results from Cronus influence Novo’s exploration prioritisation?
  • What impact will heritage survey outcomes have on the timing and scope of drilling at Kavira and Teichman?
  • Can the IOCG-style targets at Toolunga deliver the scale of mineralisation Novo is targeting?
