ABC Project Resource Surpasses 3 Million Ounces

Resolute Mining Limited (ASX:RSG) has announced a significant expansion of its ABC Gold Project in northwest Côte d’Ivoire, increasing the Inferred Mineral Resource Estimate (MRE) to 3.02 million ounces of contained gold at a grade of 0.71 g/t. This marks a 31% increase in contained ounces compared to the 2021 estimate, achieved through more than 31,000 meters of drilling since Resolute’s acquisition of the project in 2025.

The updated resource is predominantly near surface, with the majority contained within 250 meters depth, and covers two main deposits, Kona South and Kona Central, that remain open along strike and at depth. The expansion underscores the continuity and scale of mineralisation, reinforcing ABC as a priority growth asset for Resolute’s West African portfolio.

Aggressive Drilling Campaign Accelerates Resource Growth

Resolute has ramped up its exploration efforts with seven rigs currently active at the site, increasing to eleven by August 2026, aiming to complete an 80,000-meter drill program by year-end. The focus is on infill drilling to upgrade portions of the resource from Inferred to Indicated, a critical step towards establishing a mineable reserve.

Drilling results have returned multiple robust gold intersections, including standout intercepts such as 53 meters at 0.96 g/t Au from 86 meters and 66 meters at 1.17 g/t Au from 165 meters at Kona South. Similar encouraging grades and widths have been reported at Kona Central and the emerging Moya prospect, located 8 kilometers north of Kona Central, which has shown promising mineralisation in preliminary drilling.

$15-25 Million Work Program Targets Feasibility by 2027

Resolute plans to invest between $15 million and $25 million over the next 12 to 18 months to advance ABC through feasibility studies and mining approvals. This comprehensive work program encompasses extensive drilling, metallurgical testwork to optimise processing, environmental and social baseline studies, permitting activities, and infrastructure upgrades including camp facilities and site logistics.

Early commencement of the Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA) and proactive stakeholder engagement highlight Resolute’s commitment to responsible project development. Metallurgical testwork to date suggests the ore is hard and abrasive but amenable to conventional gravity and carbon-in-leach processing with recoveries near 89%, although further testwork is underway to refine these parameters.

Geological Setting and Resource Estimation Methodology

The ABC Project sits along the Archean-Birimian Cratonic suture zone, specifically the Sassandra Fault Zone, hosting structurally controlled gold mineralisation predominantly in psammitic units dipping steeply west. The resource modelling employed advanced geostatistical methods including Ordinary Kriging and Categorical Indicator Kriging combined with Uniform Conditioning to capture local grade variability and provide a realistic representation of the deposit’s complexity.

All mineral resources are reported within an optimised pit shell assuming a long-term gold price of US$3,250 per ounce and a cut-off grade of 0.3 g/t Au, reflecting the project’s likely open pit mining scenario. The resource remains classified as Inferred, with no Ore Reserves declared, pending further infill drilling and technical studies.

Strategic Importance Within Resolute’s West African Growth

ABC is positioned to become Resolute’s fourth mine in West Africa and its second in Côte d’Ivoire, complementing existing operations at Syama in Mali and Mako in Senegal, as well as the under-construction Doropo project. The company’s Managing Director Chris Eger emphasised ABC’s role in building a diversified, multi-asset gold platform in the region, highlighting the project’s potential to contribute significantly to future production growth.

With Resolute recently securing a substantial repayment from its Ravenswood sale, the company is financially equipped to fund ABC’s advancement alongside other growth initiatives. The upcoming feasibility milestones, including resource conversion drilling and permitting progress, will be crucial indicators of ABC’s trajectory towards development.

Bottom Line?

Resolute’s ABC Project resource expansion and aggressive work program mark a pivotal step, but the path to production hinges on successful feasibility outcomes and resource upgrades.

Questions in the middle?

  • How effectively will Resolute convert Inferred resources at ABC to Indicated and Measured categories with the planned drilling?
  • What metallurgical challenges might emerge as testwork progresses, and how could they impact processing costs?
  • How will permitting and environmental approvals unfold amid Côte d’Ivoire’s regulatory landscape and community expectations?
