Cardea 1 Delivers Shallow, High-Grade Gallium Mineralisation

Western Yilgarn NL (ASX:WYX) has confirmed a broad and consistently mineralised gallium system at its Cardea 1 Project in Western Australia's Darling Range. The re-assay of 161 vacuum drill pulps revealed multiple near-surface zones with gallium oxide (Ga₂O₃) grades exceeding 100 ppm, with standout intercepts such as 4.5m at 105.5 g/t Ga₂O₃ from just 1.5m depth in drillhole JDV236 and 2.5m at 134.4 g/t Ga₂O₃ from 2m in JDV383.

The shallow nature of mineralisation, often commencing from surface and hosted within the lateritic profile, suggests potential for low-strip-ratio extraction. Peak assays exceeded 140 ppm Ga₂O₃, reinforcing the tenor of this critical mineral system. Gallium’s strategic importance in semiconductors, photovoltaics, LEDs, and defence technologies elevates the project’s significance within an established bauxite province.

New Gold Licences in Highly Prospective Glenburgh District

Western Yilgarn secured three exploration licences (E09/2986, E09/2987, E09/2988) covering 201 km² in the Glenburgh Gold District of the Gascoyne region. These licences sit within the same lithological and structural corridors that host Benz Mining’s 16.3Mt @ 1.0 g/t Au Glenburgh resource, placing Western Yilgarn’s tenure on a direct mineralised trend.

Geophysical analysis highlights magnetic breaks, shear zones, and potassium anomalies analogous to those controlling gold mineralisation at Benz. Seven priority gold target zones have been delineated, ranging from broad bulk-tonnage analogues to discrete high-grade shoots. The company has yet to undertake drilling but is poised to advance exploration based on these compelling structural and geophysical signatures.

Technical Expertise Boosted by Appointment of Bauxite Specialist

To support its Northern Darling Range bauxite projects, Western Yilgarn appointed Dr Ashok Kumar Nandi as Specialist Bauxite Technical Adviser. Dr Nandi brings over 45 years of global experience in bauxite geology, beneficiation, and alumina processing, having worked with BHP Billiton and on major international projects.

His expertise will be critical in optimising resource development and product specifications, focusing on reducing reactive silica and enhancing alumina content to meet stringent offtake requirements. Dr Nandi’s involvement signals Western Yilgarn’s intent to advance its bauxite assets towards commercialisation.

Capital Raising and Financial Position

Western Yilgarn launched a share purchase plan (SPP) offering eligible shareholders the chance to subscribe for up to $30,000 in shares at $0.03 each, aiming to raise up to $500,000 before costs. The SPP includes free attaching options exercisable at $0.10, expiring in May 2028. The raise is intended to bolster working capital and fund ongoing exploration activities.

The company reported exploration expenditure of $150,199 during the quarter and ended with a cash balance of $159,000. Operating cash outflows were $207,000 for the quarter, with no mining production activities recorded. Western Yilgarn remains confident in its ability to raise additional capital as required to sustain operations.

Emerging Gold Targets at Ida Holmes Junction

Post-quarter, Western Yilgarn identified five high-priority gold targets at its Ida Holmes Junction Project following a comprehensive prospectivity review. These targets span orogenic, hydrothermal, and palaeochannel styles, linked to regional structures such as the Ida Fault and Ballard Fault. Planned aircore drilling and geological mapping will test these targets in coming months, expanding the company’s gold exploration footprint.
