Desert Minerals Advances Gold and Lithium Projects with $1 Million Placement

Mining By Maxwell Dee 3 min read

Desert Minerals reported strong gold soil anomalies at Mt Monger and completed drilling at Scotty Lithium, pending assays. A $1 million placement boosts cash to A$4.05 million, underpinning upcoming drilling and resource estimation.

  • Strong gold anomalism defines Titan soil trend at Mt Monger
  • Scotty Lithium drilling completed with assays awaited
  • Maiden drilling at Providence Prospect scheduled for August
  • $1 million placement raised at a premium
  • Cash position strengthened to approximately A$4.05 million

Strong Gold Anomalism Highlights Mt Monger Potential

Desert Minerals (ASX:DSM) has bolstered its gold exploration credentials with robust results from a 379-sample UltraFine⁺ soil program at its Mt Monger Gold Project in Western Australia. The program delineated a coherent north-northwesterly gold anomaly, dubbed the Titan anomaly, spanning roughly 500 by 300 metres. This trend aligns with structural complexities and historical drilling, including a notable intercept of 2 metres at 3.8 g/t gold from 49 metres depth in a previous aircore hole.

The Titan anomaly's continuity and coincidence with quartz veining at surface suggest a compelling target for further drilling, which is now imminent. Planning for a maiden drilling program at the Providence Prospect has been completed, with approvals secured and a contractor appointed to commence drilling in August 2026. This activity aims to expand the existing JORC resource and refine the project's geological model.

Scotty Lithium Drilling Completes, Assay Results Pending

Across the Pacific, Desert Minerals successfully wrapped up drilling at the Scotty Lithium Project in Nevada on time and within budget. The program employed sonic drilling to intersect consistent clay-hosted stratigraphy interpreted as potentially lithium-bearing, including primary lithium-bearing green to olive-grey clay, transitional clays marking oxidation boundaries, and basement-related lithic-rich clays. High core recoveries were achieved, enhancing sample quality for detailed geological analysis.

Assay results from this program remain pending, with the company poised to advance towards a maiden Mineral Resource Estimate contingent on positive outcomes. The Scotty project carries a JORC (2012) Exploration Target of 460–837 million tonnes at 1,145–1,175 ppm lithium, though this remains conceptual pending further exploration.

Placement Strengthens Balance Sheet for Growth

Desert Minerals raised $1 million through a placement executed at a premium to the prevailing share price, reinforcing its financial position. This capital injection lifts the company’s cash reserves to approximately A$4.05 million as of 30 June 2026, providing a solid runway to advance both the Mt Monger and Scotty projects.

Exploration expenditure for the quarter was modest at around A$44,000, well under budget, reflecting efficient capital management as the company prepares for more intensive fieldwork. Related party payments, including director fees, totalled approximately A$35,400 for the quarter.

Tenement Status and Corporate Strategy

Desert Minerals holds a substantial portfolio of tenements at Mt Monger with an 80% interest in most granted licenses and several pending mining lease conversions underway. In Nevada, the Scotty Lithium Project is held through NEVLITH LLC with a 51% interest. The company continues to selectively evaluate new project and corporate opportunities aligned with its strategy to build a high-quality mineral asset base.

Executive Chairman Peretz Shapiro emphasised the company’s strengthened position and readiness to progress exploration activities, highlighting the efficient execution of drilling programs and encouraging soil results as key milestones. The upcoming drilling at Providence and awaited assay results from Scotty will be pivotal in shaping Desert Minerals’ resource development trajectory.

Bottom Line?

Desert Minerals enters a critical phase with maiden drilling imminent at Mt Monger and assay results pending at Scotty, backed by a strengthened balance sheet.

Questions in the middle?

  • Will assay results from Scotty confirm a viable lithium resource?
  • How will the upcoming Providence drilling impact the Mt Monger resource estimate?
  • What new project opportunities might Desert Minerals pursue to complement its existing portfolio?
