Patronus Resources Hits High-Grade Gold at Depth and Secures Guppy Tenure

Mining By Maxwell Dee 4 min read

Patronus Resources has kicked off its 2026 exploration season with promising high-grade gold results at the Tally Ho deposit in the Northern Territory and secured full ownership of the Guppy prospect in Western Australia, while executing a strategic uranium rights sale.

  • High-grade gold intercept of 2.61m at 6.38g/t Au from 454m at Tally Ho
  • 2026 drilling program targets 30,000m plus 3,000 surface samples at Pine Creek
  • Full 100% ownership secured of Guppy–Benalla tenure near Cardinia
  • Binding term sheet to sell uranium rights to Greenvale Energy with 19.6% stake
  • Strong cash position of $65.1 million at quarter-end

High-Grade Gold Discovery Extends Tally Ho Potential

Patronus Resources (ASX:PTN) has delivered a compelling start to its 2026 exploration campaign at the Pine Creek Gold Project in the Northern Territory, with its first diamond drill hole at the Tally Ho deposit confirming high-grade gold mineralisation at depth. The standout intercept of 2.61 metres at 6.38 grams per tonne (g/t) gold from 454 metres down-hole lies some 200 metres below the historical pit, pointing to a previously unrecognised mineralised zone beneath the existing resource.

This result from hole TH26DD001 bolsters the company’s thesis of significant upside potential for resource growth at Tally Ho, part of the Fountain Head area which collectively hosts a 234,000-ounce gold resource. Assay results from the three remaining diamond holes are pending, with Patronus planning a comprehensive structural and mineralogical interpretation once all data is received.

Alongside the diamond drilling, Patronus is advancing a 30,000-metre combined diamond and reverse circulation (RC) drilling program across multiple targets at Pine Creek, supported by around 3,000 surface geochemical samples. The program aims to test both brownfields extensions and greenfields anomalies identified in prior surface sampling, with a focus on historically underexplored zones.

Guppy Prospect Consolidation Unlocks Exploration Control

In Western Australia, Patronus has secured full 100% ownership of the Guppy–Benalla area within its Cardinia Gold Project near Leonora by acquiring the remaining 20% interest for $250,000 cash. This acquisition removes joint venture constraints and grants the company unfettered control over exploration and potential development in a highly prospective mineralised corridor approximately 6 kilometres south of the 475,000-ounce Cardinia East resource.

Recent surface geochemistry and mapping at Guppy have delineated a coherent gold target extending roughly 2.5 kilometres along strike, highlighted by rock chip samples reaching 3.27 g/t gold. Follow-up aircore and RC drilling are planned pending completion of heritage surveys with the Nyalpa Pirnuku Native Title Group, aimed at testing strike continuity, shoot geometry, and parallel structures.

Strategic Uranium Rights Divestment to Greenvale Energy

Patronus has executed a binding term sheet to divest its uranium exploration rights within the Pine Creek Project to ASX-listed Greenvale Energy (ASX:GRV). Upon completion, Patronus will hold a 19.6% stake in Greenvale and secure board representation through the appointment of its chairman, Rowan Johnston, as a non-executive director.

The transaction allows Patronus to sharpen its focus on gold and base metals while maintaining exposure to uranium exploration via a dedicated specialist. Completion remains subject to regulatory approvals and third-party consents, with ongoing discussions underway to satisfy these conditions.

Strong Balance Sheet and Leadership Appointment

Patronus ended the June quarter with a robust cash and liquid assets position of $65.1 million, comprising cash, short-term deposits, and strategic investments. This financial strength supports the company’s aggressive exploration agenda across its Northern Territory and Western Australian projects.

Adding to its executive team, Patronus appointed Leonard Lau as Chief Development Officer. Lau brings extensive experience from senior roles at Leo Lithium, Western Areas, Xstrata, and Woodside, positioning him to drive corporate development and investor relations as the company advances its growth strategy.

Bottom Line?

Patronus’ early high-grade drill results and strategic tenement consolidation set the stage for a pivotal year, but upcoming assay releases and uranium rights approvals will be critical milestones to watch.

Questions in the middle?

  • Will assay results from the remaining Tally Ho drill holes confirm the extent of the new mineralised zone?
  • How swiftly can heritage approvals be secured to enable drilling at Guppy and other Cardinia targets?
  • What impact will Greenvale Energy’s uranium exploration progress have on Patronus’ long-term portfolio value?
