Breakthrough Gold Intercept at O’Phlay

Unity Metals Limited (ASX:UM1) has unveiled a standout gold intersection from its maiden drill hole at the O’Phlay Gold Project in Cambodia’s Mondulkiri Province. Hole 26DDCM001 returned a broad 40-metre zone grading 1.9 grams per tonne (g/t) gold starting at 82 metres downhole, including a high-grade 5 metres at 10.5 g/t. This intercept is the best gold result Unity has recorded in Cambodia to date, underscoring the potential of the project.

The mineralisation is hosted within diorite and associated with quartz-arsenopyrite veins, both massive and stockwork styles, extending from surface and remaining open at depth and along strike. This style is consistent with intrusion-related gold (IRG) systems, akin to Unity’s nearby Ngot Gold Project and Emerald Resources’ Okvau Gold Mine, located 60 kilometres west.

First Modern Drilling Unlocks Historical Target

O’Phlay had never before seen modern drilling despite evidence of historical open-pit and underground mining. The initial drill hole targeted the Camp Prospect, where gold-bearing veins are exposed in old pits and coincide with a strong Gradient Array Induced Polarisation (GAIP) geophysical anomaly trending north-south over 1.8 kilometres.

Unity has completed four diamond drill holes totalling 570.6 metres at Camp, with assays pending for holes 26DDCM002 to 004. The company plans to extend the initial 3,000-metre (21-hole) drill program to test the mineralisation’s depth and strike extensions following the encouraging first-hole results.

Strategic Location and Exploration Outlook

The O’Phlay licences lie in protected areas approved for exploration by Cambodian authorities, with Unity holding an 85% interest. The project sits 63 kilometres east-northeast of the Okvau Mine, a 1.5 million ounce deposit operated by Emerald Resources. Unity’s portfolio in Cambodia also includes the Ngot Gold Project, where recent drilling has confirmed gold mineralisation across multiple prospects.

Craig Mackay, Unity’s Managing Director, emphasised the significance of the discovery: "The 40 metres at 1.9 g/t gold at O’Phlay is by far the best obtained by Unity in Cambodia to date. It demands immediate follow-up." The company is awaiting assays from the remaining holes and plans further drilling along the extensive GAIP anomalies at Camp.

The drilling used industry-standard diamond core techniques with core oriented and surveyed to ensure accurate geological modelling. Samples were analysed by ALS Laboratories with rigorous QA/QC protocols. The reported intersections are downhole lengths; true widths remain to be determined as drilling progresses.

With the initial results confirming a robust intrusion-related gold system, Unity is poised to accelerate exploration at O’Phlay. The extended drilling program will aim to delineate the size and grade continuity of the gold mineralisation, critical for future resource estimation.
