Kaiser Reef’s Maldon Soil Survey Confirms Extensive Gold Anomalism Across 4.4km Strike

Mining By Maxwell Dee 3 min read

Kaiser Reef’s recent infill soil survey at the Maldon Gold Project reveals robust gold and arsenic anomalies, underpinning district-scale potential and setting the stage for targeted drilling following an airborne magnetic survey.

  • Infill soil sampling covers 2.7km2 of previously unsampled ground
  • Strong gold-arsenic anomalism along multiple north-south structures
  • Peak soil gold result of 2.7g/t with several samples above 1g/t
  • Anomalism extends over 4.4km strike on granted mining leases
  • Airborne magnetic survey scheduled to refine drill targets

Infill Soil Sampling Boosts Maldon’s Exploration Profile

Kaiser Reef Limited (ASX:KAU) has delivered compelling new data from its infill soil survey at the Maldon Gold Project in Victoria, confirming strong and continuous gold and arsenic anomalism across a 4.4-kilometre strike. Covering 2.7 square kilometres of previously unsampled prospective ground to the north of Maldon, the survey has significantly sharpened the resolution of geochemical targets, revealing multiple north-south trending structures that align with historical workings.

The soil sampling returned a standout peak gold value of 2.7 grams per tonne, supported by four additional samples exceeding 1 gram per tonne. These results reinforce the project’s district-scale potential, with anomalism extending up to 1.5 kilometres along individual trends named Cumberland, North of England, Sailors, and Ivy. The first three trends exhibit robust gold values between 150 and 250 parts per billion, while Ivy maintains consistent, albeit lower, anomalism around 100ppb.

Arsenic Anomalies Highlight Structural Controls

Arsenic, a classic pathfinder element for gold mineralisation, correlates closely with the gold anomalies, delineating the mineralised structures in a more linear and defined manner. This dual-element signature enhances confidence in target generation and prioritisation for upcoming drilling campaigns. Kaiser’s Managing Director Brad Valiukas highlighted the significance of these findings, noting that the infill sampling is part of a broader program aimed at unlocking Maldon’s potential after decades of limited exploration.

“Maldon is an established goldfield with a rich history, having produced approximately 1.75 million ounces at a high grade of 28 grams per tonne. These soil results provide a robust platform to progress exploration, with clear targets emerging across multiple reefs,” Valiukas said.

Airborne Magnetic Survey to Refine Drill Targets

To complement the soil data, Kaiser Reef has scheduled a close-spaced helicopter-borne magnetic survey for early August. This geophysical program aims to identify cross-cutting structures intersecting the dominant north-south reefs, a key element in refining drillhole locations and improving targeting accuracy. The integration of soil geochemistry and magnetic data is expected to mature the pipeline of drill-ready targets, accelerating the path to resource growth and production expansion.

The company is currently prioritising and permitting drill targets generated from the survey results, advancing Maldon towards a new phase of exploration and development. This follows Kaiser Reef’s recent surface diamond drilling campaigns and infrastructure upgrades at Maldon, reinforcing the project’s strategic importance within the company’s portfolio alongside its profitable Henty Gold Mine in Tasmania.

Positioned for Growth Amid Strong Gold Prices

Kaiser Reef’s dual processing infrastructure and strong balance sheet position it well to capitalise on the current gold price environment. With a robust pipeline of exploration and development opportunities, the company is focused on disciplined production growth and reserve expansion. The Maldon Gold Project’s existing 200ktpa CIL processing plant and permitted underground access provide a solid foundation for scaling up operations as new resources are delineated.

As Kaiser Reef integrates these latest soil survey results with upcoming geophysical data and drilling outcomes, the market will be watching how quickly these early-stage targets translate into defined mineral resources and, ultimately, production growth.

Bottom Line?

Kaiser Reef’s soil survey confirms Maldon’s district-scale gold potential, but the real test lies in upcoming drilling and geophysics to convert anomalies into resources.

Questions in the middle?

  • How will the airborne magnetic survey reshape the drill targeting strategy at Maldon?
  • What timeline can investors expect for drilling results that confirm resource upgrades?
  • To what extent can Maldon’s exploration success complement production at the Henty Gold Mine?
