Fresh Rock Gold Confirmed Below Existing Resource
Yandal Resources (ASX:YRL) has received assay results from its second diamond core hole, 26IWBRC0098DA, drilled beneath the shallow 268,000-ounce Flushing Meadows gold deposit. The results confirm continuity of primary fresh rock mineralisation, with notable intercepts including 4.8 metres at 2.3 grams per tonne (g/t) gold from 175.2 metres, featuring a 1-metre interval grading 6.5 g/t. Additional mineralised zones were intercepted at 188 metres and 225.2 metres, reinforcing the presence of multiple sub-parallel gold-bearing structures beyond the current Mineral Resource Estimate (MRE).
Expanding the Flushing Meadows Mineralised System
These fresh rock intercepts follow earlier reverse circulation (RC) drilling results from the same hole’s pre-collar, which included 20 metres at 1.7 g/t gold from 55 metres. Collectively, the data reveal mineralisation extending below and to the east of the existing 1.9-kilometre strike length MRE, highlighting new parallel mineralised structures in the hanging wall that remain open at depth and along strike. This suggests the current 268,000-ounce resource captures only a fraction of the deposit’s true scale.
Yandal has completed four follow-up RC holes adjacent to the diamond core intercepts to test mineralisation continuity into fresh rock, with assay results expected in August. Approximately 8,000 metres have been drilled over 89 holes spaced 800 metres apart, aiming to delineate the boundaries of the Flushing Meadows mineralised system and test the Giedi Prime gravity target, which shares structural similarities with Flushing Meadows. Initial air-core results are anticipated in September.
Arrakis Prospect Drilling Defines Mineralisation Limits
At the Arrakis prospect, nine RC holes drilled southeast of the offsetting Scytale Shear Zone returned only low-level gold anomalism (0.1–0.3 g/t), suggesting the shear zone forms a structural boundary to mineralisation in that direction. Meanwhile, six RC holes targeting the Anders regolith anomaly, located 900 metres south of Arrakis, have been completed, with assay results also due in August. This drilling tests fresh rock positions beneath earlier air-core intercepts, including a notable 9 metres at 1.2 g/t gold.
