Aruma Resources Confirms High-Grade Copper Continuity at Tillex with Phase 2 Drilling Underway

Mining By Maxwell Dee 4 min read

Aruma Resources has reported multiple wide, high-grade copper-silver intersections from its maiden diamond drilling at the Tillex Project in Ontario, validating the deposit's scale and continuity. A downhole electromagnetic survey corroborated a strong, continuous conductor, and a 3,600m Phase 2 drilling campaign is now underway targeting extensions.

  • Phase 1 drilling delivers wide, high-grade copper-silver intersections
  • Downhole EM survey confirms continuous conductor along strike and depth
  • Phase 2 drilling commenced targeting strike and depth extensions
  • Exploration work progressing on Wilan, Fiery Creek, Saltwater projects
  • Cash balance at quarter end $0.82 million with no debt

Phase 1 Drilling Validates Tillex as Significant Copper Asset

Aruma Resources (ASX:AAJ) has delivered a strong start to its maiden diamond drilling campaign at the Tillex Copper-Silver Project in Ontario’s prolific Timmins mining district. The first phase, comprising 1,093 metres over five holes, returned multiple broad, high-grade copper and silver intersections that reinforce the project’s potential as a significant copper development asset.

Standout results include 89 metres at 2.04% copper and 12.31 grams per tonne silver from 38.8 metres in hole TX26-004, featuring higher-grade intervals such as 16.87 metres at 4.02% copper and 16.85 grams per tonne silver. Other holes similarly reported thick zones exceeding 1.9% copper with accompanying silver credits, confirming the scale and continuity of mineralisation near surface.

Downhole EM Survey Corroborates Robust Mineralised System

Complementing the drilling, a downhole electromagnetic (DHEM) survey confirmed a strong, continuous conductor extending both along strike and at depth over 100 to 150 metres, with a steeply dipping geometry. This conductor aligns spatially with known high-grade mineralisation and indicates a robust and persistent mineralised system that remains open for expansion.

The DHEM data refined earlier surface EM interpretations, consolidating multiple conductive zones into a unified corridor hosting multiple high-grade centres. Aruma plans further DHEM surveying of historical drillholes to sharpen targeting ahead of ongoing drilling.

Phase 2 Drilling Targets Extensions to Mineralised Trend

Building on these results, Aruma has commenced a substantial Phase 2 diamond drilling program targeting strike and depth extensions of the Tillex deposit and associated EM conductor. The planned 3,600 metres of drilling aims to expand the known copper footprint and vector towards the core of the mineralised system, with results expected progressively during the current quarter.

The Tillex Project’s mineralisation shares notable structural and geometric similarities with the nearby world-class Kidd Creek volcanogenic massive sulphide (VMS) deposit, which boasts exceptional vertical continuity to depths of around 3,000 metres. Although Tillex remains at an early exploration stage, the shallow high-grade zones and open depth potential provide a compelling analogue to this benchmark.

Progress on Australian Exploration Fronts

Beyond Canada, Aruma is advancing exploration across its Australian portfolio. At the Wilan Project in South Australia’s Gawler Craton, a program to review and reprocess geophysical data targeting Heavy Mineral Sands (HMS) has been completed, with results pending. In Queensland’s Mt Isa copper belt, detailed structural analysis and 3D modelling at the Fiery Creek Copper Project have been finalised, awaiting release.

In Western Australia, the Saltwater Project has undergone soil sampling assessments to refine drill targets, while at the Bortala Copper Project in Mt Isa, soil sampling is planned to test priority anomalies. The Salmon Gums Gold Project near Norseman remains under evaluation for next steps.

Cash Position and Funding Outlook

Aruma closed the quarter with $0.82 million in cash and no debt, following exploration expenditure of approximately $878,000. The company acknowledges a cash runway of less than one quarter at current burn rates but is in advanced discussions to raise additional capital to fund ongoing exploration activities and maintain operational continuity.

Investors will be watching closely as Phase 2 drilling results and metallurgical testwork on Tillex samples become available, which will be critical in defining the project’s resource potential and economic viability.

Bottom Line?

Aruma’s strong Phase 1 results and ongoing Phase 2 drilling at Tillex underscore its potential as a high-grade copper asset, but limited cash reserves mean timely capital raising will be essential to sustain momentum.

Questions in the middle?

  • Will Phase 2 drilling confirm the depth extensions and support a maiden resource estimate?
  • How will metallurgical testwork impact processing strategies and project economics at Tillex?
  • What are the timelines and prospects for Aruma’s planned capital raise to fund exploration?
